visit the town square and see the Banyon tree! From the central trunk and lateral branches, it has put out arial roots which have rooted and grown more trunks and branches, spreading an entire block. Reported to be over 100 years old, the tree is a sight to behold and a wonderful place to reflect. Early morning whale watching! And seeing a mom, calf and escort breaching repeatedly just off the side of our boat. Absolutely unforgetable.
Moose McGillacuddy's in...
Moose McGillacuddy's in Lahaina! Mooses is by no means upscale, but they have wonderful food at a good price. They also have a great bar, you'll also find it's a cool nightspot. Lahaina in general, has great restaurants anything from Mexican to Japanese. Mama's Fish House also deserves a visit, Mama's is a bit north of Lahaina/Kaanapali.
Moose's is cool because it is such a fun and relaxed atmosphere. As I mentioned, a great bar and good prices. Moose's has great specials for breakfast and dinner. Mahi Mahi, Ahi and Ono are all fresh and won't dissapoint.

You can hike right down into the crater (wear warm clothing). Depending on your physical condition, you can walk for hours.
The colours and the fact that there are very few people make this acitivity very attractive!
"Awesome air in West Maui!"
I could be blindfolded and step off a plane in Maui and know exactly where I was just by the feel of the air. It is soft, eneloping, moist but not humid, warm but not hot, cool but not cold. Each breath feels healing and calming. It is like going home.
Halloween 2002 - Patty and her students
"The Usual Suspects...."
Sarah, Alan, Paul and I made a pact. "What happened on Lahaina, Stays on Lahaina."
Might I be so bold as to be the FIRST to break that pact? Ah... Sarah. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. WHERE to begin. Well, on second thought, I think Diceman is enough to make me shut up a tad. But I'll just show this photo so that folks get an idea what Dear Ms. "i'm a GOOD girl" Sarah was up to this Halloween in Lahaina!
Alan! The Valley Island's Finest! Mahalo for being SUCH a wonderful ambassador of goodwill to all us stragglers. And mahalo to your family for being so generous, as well. Your niece providing us with a literal "Crash Pad." Haven't done that in decades. Yikes.) Here is your favorite photo. You were such a perfect, helpful host -- but don't think I didn't hear you whisper to pretty young thangs "Wanna peek under my Trench Coat for a Maui Surprise?"
And PAUL. Last but impossibly not last. What can I say? You knew a good thing when you heard it! Kudos on you, my Jersey Brother! Hearing merely 3 hours before departure we had one empty seat, you quickly did the math and assessed the Pros/Cons and decided to go! I told you: no ground transportation and/or housing may be possible, but you TOOK the risk like a TRUE TRAVELER. You have passed the test: you are now a victim of WanderLust. Happy Trails, and may all your travel have good (bunny) tails. I mean Tales!
"Yuko Came TOO! One-Way, but she got a good deal!"
Here I am w/ Yuko, another student that made the journey, but she only required a one way ride. She was picked up & hung out with her Maui friends. As you can tell by my demeanor in this photo, naturally, I was a perfect angel, and a stellar role-model for all eyes to see. Ahem.... (A's for all of ya if you keep your traps shut, aiighht???)
the rest are just some "best of" candids I took... Enjoy!
