KIHEI
by skreno
KIHEI Kehei(key-hay) is a nice little beach town about 30 miles south of Lahaina on the same side of the island. it's got a really nice beach and there's all kinds of stores to rent scuba and surf gear. Also, they have some great houses with lofts and kitchens for rent.(Sorry, I don't know the name). If you tell your travel agent you want to rent a house in Kehei they will know which ones I'm talking about.
Seafood!!
by cfwestbe about Bubba Gump Shrimp Company
Restaurant chain from the movie Bubba Gump. Great atmosphere and location! Is right on the shore! Windows are open and the evening breeze blows right through the restaurant! The staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed it so much the first night, we went back the next night! Bucket of Boat Trash!! Included various fried seafood (shrimp, fish, etc.) with fries in a galvanized bucket! Also have great drinks and desserts.
The Banyan Tree

The Banyan Tree
This massive banyon tree is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands. This is one tree, the roots are all connected together and all started from one tree. The tree was planeted in 1873 and was only 8 feet tall.
Great Little Harbor Town!

"Shopping! Eating! The Docks!"
Lahaina means 'Cruel Sun'. Legend has it that there was a chief named Hua many generations ago who, in a huff, killed all of his priests. Drought soon followed, and villagers referred to the area as the land of the cruel sun.
Lahaina is a quaint, adorable harbor town (as I call it). It has the main dock areas for going on all the tourist activities like whale watching, snorkeling, etc. You can walk around the cute downtown area for shopping and great dining, or you can lay on the grass at the Banyon Tree park, or take a walk through the historical courthouse that has a museum in it. I loved Lahaina, probably one of my favorite places in Maui.
"Banyan Tree Park"
When we were in the park musicians were playing and various vendors were in the park selling their wares. Great atmosphere and the tree is totally cool.
"Shopping!!"
Walking around and shopping is a fun thing to do in Lahaina. It seems like every other store was a jewelry store. There are lots of restaurants, clothing shops, trinket shops, etc. If you are hot find the Dairy Queen and get a cold ice cream cone, tastes great and cools you off.
