More about Outrigger Napili Shores
Nice Condo Resort at a reasonable price!
Napili Shores is a quiet condo resort at the west end of Maui. After driving all over Maui I prefer the area of Napili/Kapalua the best and I am very glad we stayed here. Napili Shores has a great beach (Napili Bay), a large bay area where you can swim with the turtles, Kapalua Beach/Bay is right down the road if you want to try another nice (but a little smaller) beach with good snorkeling. You also have access to lower Hanopolini (sic?) Rd. which is the road that Napili shores is on but if you continue on L. Hanopolini you are in for an awesome scenic drive!
The condo has two swimming pools, one up by the ocean and one at the front of the resort. There are several barbeque grills on site, two restaurants and a 24 hour front desk staff. Pools are on the small side, but hey you have a beach why lay at the pool right? There is a laundry room on site $1.25 for a wash and $1.25 for a dry. The washers do come in handy if you are staying a long time because your clothes do get kind of damp and musty smelling after awhile.
There is an on site concierge to help you book activities and things around the island, although you can do this yourself, it is not always necessary to use the concierge.
Wireless Internet can be accessed in the lobby area, bring your laptop!
Stamp machine onsite for mailing those postcards, however, a 23 cent stamp will cost you nearly double as the hotel charges there own "fee", which I think should be illegal.
Free pool towels, the front desk will give these to you as you check in. However, you do have to return them.
Napili Shores Delightful
Just returned from a week at Napili Shores. This was our first visit to Hawaii and we had a wonderful time!
We traveled with our two teen (15 & 18) daughters and had a great time swimming, snorkling, resting and playing. The condo development is spacious and open, so there's plenty of "wandering around" space and a great bluff to watch the sun rise and set.
The staff is very courteous and the breakfast at The Gazebo is delicious.
The rooms aren't that large, but the lanais provide an additional "living" area.
The kitchens come fully equipped and there's a grocery store just a half mile away that carries everything you need (and it's not as outrageously expensive as many made it out to be).
We highly recommend this destination for families in particular. Lots of little kids and the usual "family" noises in and around the pool and beach areas.
Be sure to watch for the turtles at play in the surf at sundown.
Only Open for Breakfast & Lunch
This was a tip I got on VT as a great place to have breakfast. Well, I think word got out and count on a line to be seated. You can (as we did) order your food to go. It's faster service and then you can sit pool side (as we did) and eat your breakfast. At least if you're standing in line, coffee is available to the side and you can help yourself. It's a bit difficult to find. First look for the Napili Shores Condos and park in the parking lot. Walk all the way towards the beach and the restaurant is right there.
Great Food - Be ready for a line
The Gaezbo is situated on the property of Napili Shores resort. Park in the back of the lot, otherwise you'll have to walk a bit. Be prepared for a wait unless you go early. We went at 9am and had to wait 45 mins... and it was worth it. The view alone was great but the food was too. My wife and I got 2 of their more popular items - the combo shortstack of pancakes with pineapple, macadamia nuts, etc. and the Big Kahuna omelet. We shared and it was awesome. There are apprx 12 tables but they seemed to get the food out quick enough to turn 'em as fast as possible. Our food arrived without much of a wait but we never felt rushed and the price was right (keep in mind that your paying Hawaiian prices). Try the POG (Passion Fruit, Orange and Guava juice mix) too, it's very refreshing. Banana Macdamia Nut Pineapple pancakes w/coconut syrup.
Great Value and View.
Stayed in Outrigger for first part of two year anniversary. Second part at the Four Seasons Wailea. Had a great time!! Room with Ocean view is so close to the water I could have thrown a rock into the Pacific Ocean from our room, lefty. We were about twenty yards from the Ocean. Kapalua is a short walk from this resort and the golf on the Plantation course was incredible. The Four Seasons was awesome for service and relaxation, but the view of the Turtles floating in the Ocean from our outside deck was unforgetable at the Outrigger Napili Shores.
Great area ... nice rooms
We traveled to Napili in late June early July 2004. Our experience at the Napili shores was a good one. The rooms are small, but have everything that you need for a comfortable vacation. I would recommend this establishment for anyone traveling to Maui and looking for a quieter atmosphere than the larger hotels offer.
We stayed at Napili Shores May 2 - 8, 2004. It was a wonderful place. The beach had some great snorkeling. It was very quiet and relaxing. There were beautiful flowering trees on either side of our lanai so it felt secluded. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The macadamia nut pancakes at the Gazebo are well worth the wait! I would visit again in a heartbeat.
Not bad if you don't need AC and ok with noise
My husband and I stayed in Outrigger Napili Shores from Aug 26 to 31 2004 in a ground ocean-view room with kitchen (Ocean-front is where you can really feel the ocean, ocean-view is where you can see a tiny bit of ocean from the window or lanai).
The room is clean and confortable, no odor, no ants in door. Saw two roaches, which is not too bad considering it's the ground floor. The view is not bad. Partial ocean, green grass, palm trees .... Enough free parking. Kitchen appliances are more than good enough for me.
No air conditioner. It's hot if you don't like hot weather in general. There are big windows and doors. But if you don't like to listen to your neighbours kids' crying, you might need to close them when you sleep. Then the room is hotter.
The beach is near, it's a good place for snorkeling, looking for turtles and studying the tide pool.
Morning is beautiful, the smell of the flowers right into your face when open the door.
Gazebo is great, order "take out" to avoid the long line-up and one order might be enough for two people.
I enjoy the place a lot. Although it's a little bit expensive for two people, if you are a family of 4 aiming a vacation on the beach all day long, it should be ideal for you.
could'nt find a thing wrong with it
Stayed there for a week last Nov.. stayed in room 255 and had a fairly good view from our lanai. I think some of the trees in front of the 2d floor units could be cut shorter to provide better views in some of the units but what the heck, it's Hawaii;get out of your room. The breeze and cooler temps were a releif after spending a half-day in Lahaina or other places down the coast.Saw plenty of sea turtles right from the grounds. I liked the well-maintained gas grills just on the hotel side of the pool. 3 times that week i slow-grilled some steaks while knocking back a couple cold beers and had the area virtually to myself. And i found the grounds almost unaturallly quiet in the evening, except for the breeze and surf....
An excellent choice...
We stayed here from October 11th-18th 2004. We traveled with a large family group so split into 2 units both ocean views, #161 and #165. Both were clean one bedroom units with additional sleeping on two sofa/daybeds in the living room. Units were clean and well equipped with all your kitchen type needs. Pots and pans, paper towels, dishwasher soap etc...There are numerous markets nearby to stock up on all the essentials. BBQ's nearby are a nice alternative to turning on the oven especially since there is no air conditioning. Ceiling fans provide some relief from the heat but it was warm at night. Quite quiet, we heard nothing from above us only foot traffic outside the open windows. The lanai's provide a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the view. The shoreline directly in front of the property is rocky but a wonderful place for exploring and looking for shells or fish in the tide pools. You are adjacent to beautiful Napili Bay which can be accessed via a paved path with a few stairs. A nice quiet beach, good snorkeling and swimming too. The property grounds are immaculate, plumeria trees everywhere leave a wonderful smell in the air. Maid service is only scheduled for every 3rd day but they are good about coming inbetween if you need extra towels or a touch up. Pleasant staff, coin-op laundry on premises too which was nice since we had younger children with us. The Gazebo restaurant is on the property and very popular, expect lines. They serve the best banana macadamia nut pancakes...Yummy! Worth eating there at least once just for the atmosphere too. Watch for turtles in the bay they pop their heads up all over the place. A very nice choice, we were pleased all around.

Outrigger Napili Shores Condo
Can anyone tell me if you have stayed at the Outrigger Napili Shores Condo and what you experiece was there? Also, I know that they do not have air condition. Is it not hot enough on Maui for air conditioning?
Any information you can give will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Re: Outrigger Napili Shores Condo
I prefer Napili Kai Beach Club, Napili Point and One Napili. The Shores is fine and Napili is my favorite beach in Maui. Air conditioning is not necessary with proper use of a ceiling fan open windows and blinds.
Re: Outrigger Napili Shores Condo
Can't tell you about the condo but can tell you that very few have air conditioning. Last year we were there and for whatever reason the Trades stopped blowing but it was still fine with the fans. Trust me, air conditioning, TV, internet and all the other everyday things that we worry about in regular life will be the last thing you think about in Maui. We're arriving next Wednesday and staying in Sands of Kahana. Tad pricey but absolutely beautiful...and no air conditioning.
Re: Re: Outrigger Napili Shores Condo
Well put Chris. Some vodka and POG and all is good.
spa services near Napili Shores?
We are staying at Napili Shores for only 3 days in Dec, one of which will be our wedding on the beach. Where are some nice spas? We like the best - so more upscale is what we want. Don't want to drive far though, so maybe some in Lahaina, Ka'anapali, Kapalua? Thanks for your help!!
3 Romantic days in Hawaii - suggestions?
We will be married in Tahiti (not legally, though) and then will stop for 3 days in Maui during which we will be legally married. We are staying at Napili Shores. We don't want to do too much in terms of running ourselves around, but what do you suggest we can't miss? We want to keep it fairly low-key, like sightseeing/waterfalls/romance, etc., if we do anything at all besides the beach. I'd hate to miss something - who knows when we will ever be back this way!
All suggestions greatly appreciated!!
RE: 3 Romantic days in Hawaii - suggestions?
Aloha. The best on Maui is the road to Hana with the waterfalls, lush bamboo jungles, and great ocean vistas around every hairpin turn. Worth the 2 1/2 drive, as you can stop along the way and walk into the back areas where the waterfalls are at their best. Look for the bridges or other cars parked to find the waterfalls, mountainside. On your way back you can stop at Mama's Fish House in Paia for pure Hawaiiana decor and great gourmet food and drinks. They have a beautiful setting right on the beach. You can sit and watch the ocean from the parklike grounds of Mama's. See website:www.mamasfishhouse.com and also www.mauivisitor.com/text_hana.html

Maui is a great choice. I would reccomend you go to a luau. Old Lahina Luau is the BESET. but you need to make reservations fast becuase they fill up. Also Napili Shores is great. Make sure you go to the town of Lahina for dinner. There are nice places to eat. Road to Hana provides waterfalls and other great sights.
