More about Pennys Place Inn Paradise
Mahalo for great accomadations
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Penny's Place during our honeymoon in July. Breakfast with fellow vacationers was always a great start to the day. We stayed in the larger room and were really impressed with the decor, access to the lanai, and overall ambiance of her house. The luau is a short walk from Penny's and I would highly recommend attending it if you're staying with Penny. We look forward to a return trip in the not-to-distant future...I hope!
1st Class B&B Experience
Our stay was 9 nights - felt like a stay with an old friend. Excellent property; good value, delicious breakfasts of fresh island fruits and pastries. Comfortable, clean accommodations very centrally located with good access to Lahaina town, ocean, and highway. Penny is a gracious hostess; very professional and knowledgeable as well. She provided us with excellent recommendations for activities and restaurants. This was our 3rd trip to Maui and I found Penny's in-depth advice to be helpful for even the most experienced repeat visitor.
Best B&B in Lahaina
My mother and I spent three days at Penny's Place in Paradise in April 2006. We have been to Maui many times before and usually rent a condo. Since our visit was so short, a condo rental was not economical.
We read about this B&B on TripAdvisor and were delighted that a twin room was available for our dates. The room was small but not cramped. The beds were quite comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and extremely clean; we appreciated having lots of bath towels available in the small closet. The television and air conditioner served as more-than adequate sound-proofing; we never heard the other guests.
We had only one breakfast during our stay (breakfast is not served on Sunday and we had an early morning whale watch on Monday). Our one nreakfast was scrumptious: fresh pineapple and orange juice, coffee, pancakes (frozen but we could not tell) with coconut and guava syrup, and fresh fruit (the home-grown bananas were some of the best we have ever eaten).
We appreciated the use of the communal refrigerator (the labeling system is great), microwave, and coolers. Eating out is not a high priority so we were glad to have a place to prepare and eat our food purchased from Safeway.
We really enjoyed talking with Penny. She was gracious, informative, and really helpful.
Penny's Place was very comfortable. We had the largest room at the front of the home (upstairs). Although along Front Street, we did not have much road noise. We enjoyed using the porch in the evening and breakfast was very nice. Excellent value.
If you go to Maui, and do not stay with Penny, you are missing out.
My wife and I stayed with Penny for 3 nights in July 2006 for our Honeymoon. The first pleasant surprise we had was how easy Penny's was to find! It is on the edge of town and close enough to the main highway to navigate to easily.
When we arrived, Penny was extremely helpful in making sure we were comfortable, knew where everything in the facility was, and seeing if we needed anything additionally.
The room was immaculate. It was perfectly clean, spacious, and comfortable. There were many homelike touches that were included in the room that you would not find at a hotel that made the room very inviting and comfortable. Knowing it was our honeymoon, Penny left us a gift of a matted "Hawaiian Wedding Prayer" for us to keep.
The breakfast by far among the best we ate during our entire three island stay: Juice, coffee, and fresh native fruit everyday on top of a breakfast entree.
The facility was very quiet and had lots of extra gear for guests to use. There is a fully stocked communal kitchen that we used everyday. Penny also provides extra coolers, tourist resources, and wi-fi.
The most valuable element, in my opinion, was Penny's insight to the island of Maui. She gave us wonderful tour advice. I even called her a couple days before I arrived to ask tour advice and she was more than happy to help. Her honesty and knowledge was impeccable, and my wife and I very much enjoyed talking to her.
Thank you Penny for making our trip immensely unforgettable!
Kid friendly B & B, truly unique
Penny's Place was the perfect place to stay while in Maui. Its walking distance to everything you need, restaurants, beach and grocery store. Also where most B & B's don't allow children Penny welcomed us with open arms. I traveled alone with my 10 month son which can be scary in itself but staying here made my life so easy. The rooms are extremely clean and very nicely decorated. We looked forward to breakfast every morning along with the conversation. I highly recommend this place.
A Maui Must!
My husband and I (20-something's) stayed at Penny's 8/31-9/5/06 and had the most enjoyable experience! The lanai was wonderful with a kitchenette complete with all the amenities. The bed was extremely comfortable. Penny had a closet stocked with all the extra's you would have at home.
We would start our day with coffee on the lanai followed by exotic fruits and pastries for breakfast with other guests on the downstairs deck. Penny was a wealth of information and so was the book she included in our room with insider tips to Maui. The little surprise gifts she left us along the way made us feel she appreciated our business and gave our stay a personal touch. We enjoyed ending our day back out on the lanai watching the gecko’s.
Penny's is centrally located among all the wonderful Maui adventures. The night we attended the Old Lahaina Luau we walked to and from the luau (10 min each way) and felt completely safe. We did have a rental car. However, if we did not have a rental we would have been happy staying there within walking distance of most everything in Lahaina.
We strongly recommend Penny's to anyone looking to stay in Maui. If you've never stayed at a B&B before give her a try!
We loved everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My boyfriend (now hubby) stayed at Penny's for 4 nights and didn't want to leave. We met really great people and Penny is terriffic. I would recommend Penny's for anyone who is laid back and and just wants to enjoy the sunsets from the lanai and have a terrific fruit and danish breakfast with good company. We will go back everytime we stay on Maui. We are from Oahu and really found out what Aloha means at Penny's Place.
What a wonderful experience! The house is beautiful and kept very clean. Penny is helpful and so kind. The location is perfect. Its close to everything. Can't wait to go back to Maui and stay with Penny again! Mahalo for everything Penny!
Great Place, but know what you are getting
We stayed at Penny's in January and it was great, our room looked just like it did on the Web site, the house is stocked with beach chairs, coolers, boogie boards, and snorkel gear -- everything you need for a great trip. We couldn't hear any of the other guests and the only time we say Penny was in the morning, which is what I like at a Bed and Breakfast, not too cheery and obtrusive.
What Penny's is not: (And I say this just so that you have a realistic expectation when you arrive, it really fits the bill for a good Bed and Breakfast.)
A - Penny's doesn't really have any ocean views. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which is as close as it gets to ocean view, if you go out onto the vernada and look out you can see the ocean over some houses but it isn't a wide expanse of blue.
B - Penny's is not walkable to anything. This is really only a good choice if you plan to rent a car.
C - Penny's is a very small house, not a sprawling estate, there is no yard or outdoor area beyond the upstairs and downstairs verandas.
If you are staying at Penny's as a basecamp and plan to be out and about a lot this is a great place. If you want that get away from it all and never really leave the hotel experience you won't get much of it here. The nearest beach is a good ten minute drive into Kaanapali and the only restaraunt nearby is Canoes (which looks like it turns over a lot and although tasty, closes their kitchen at about 9:00. Try the champagne and pineapple drink.)
If you want to be very central to town try the Lahaina Inn, my sister stayed there and loved it, and the price is comparable while walking distance to everything in town and with a real ocean view and pool.
