You don't need much in Maui
by sasha001
Small carryon Shorts and T-shirts and a sundress for evenings out are all that you need. Add 2 bathing suits, sandals, flipflops. Must have sunscreen! You'll burn without it. Neosporin helps with coral burn and comes in individual foil packs that you can carry with you. Coiled strecth wrist strap for keys. Wear it in the water rather than risk someone finding your keys and breaking into your car. I found a great printable packing list on website of the condo that we rented. It covers everything.
Surf's Up and Down...in Lahaina!
by wilocrek
The intense waves of Lahaina make surfing and body boarding a up and down experience! The ups of course are when you actually are able to get up on the board and surf and the downs are when the waves crash down on top of you sending you into a downward spiral of humility. This of course coming from a amateur surfer, I'm sure the hard core surfer's have a different opinion of the difficulty of surfing in Lahaina. I found it a great place to learn how to surf as the waves were big enough to present a challenge but not big enough to have to worry about drowning. Plus the hard core surfers hang out at a beach on the west side of Lahaina where the waves crash up against the rocks. Might want to avoid that beach...
Do it yourself walking tour.

We just walked into any of the historical sites in Lahaina and picked up a map to do this walk. It could take you a few hours to do but its free (except to where you need to pay admission), there are many signs to let you know where you are at and what to expect. I found it interesting and informative. Lots of great information. It takes you back in time alittle bit. In my tips a included just a few places that we hit on this walking tour but there was so much to see. If you are in Lahaina at enjoy history then you have to do this walk at least once.
