What can you say about a hotel that does not have a door in the lobby. Just let the air whisk you into this fine hotel.
The staff is responsive. Each room has a balcony. Beautifully landscaped, several pools, outdoor and enclosed garage. Most of all, it is situatied on the best part of Kaanapali Beach next to the Black Rock.
This hotel is great. It's lokated on the northen side of Kaanapali beach. Our room had an awesome view of the beach and the pool. It's built on Black Rock, so there's lots of good snorkeling right by it. The pool area s very nice, and the rooms are a good size. The beds are super comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
The Sheraton Resort on Maui was every bit as nice as the one in Honolulu, Oahu. The lobby and breezeways were always adorned with huge floral arrangements, tantilizing your senses.....ahhhh...such a sight, so breathtaking, the aromas.
Once again, the service with a smile, going the extra mile...accomadations outstanding, pools immaculate and so pretty....need I say more?? What I loved most (besides the flowers everywhere!) was being able to open the balconey door at night and hear sensous Hawaiian music and singing floating upwards from the ocean, or so it seemed.
What a wonderful, serene end to a spectacular day on the sands of Maui....
Fantastic location. Nightly sunset show with cliff divers, narration and Hula Girl. Great snorkeling, almost guaranteed to see Sea Turtles. Happy hour is great. The kids were happy with the Smoothies (chocolate banana, mango, etc.) that they gave us at Happy Hour prices. Fantastic location, great pool that has meandering lagoon. The water does not flow through the lagoon but swim at your leisure. Nice mix with the salt water beach at your doorstep.
I am a HUGE fan of Wailea and wasn't real sure I would be happy on Kaanapali.
Color me WRONG.
Although the rooms at the Sheraton are just that, rooms, not suites such as the Fairmont Kei Lani, the views from the buildings on the cliffs is just incredible.
Comfortable Lanai, outstanding views, great turtle spotting, and even the last of the spring time whales, and an occassional dolphin on view. It was a room I could have sat in all day and just looked and been happy.
Well, almost. The hotel was totally sold out while we were there and I was amazed that there was plenty of room at the pools and on the beach, for everyone. You can reserve palapa chairs (do that well in advance if you want to be close to thee Black Rock itself where the snorkeling is outstanding. Otherwise it's quite a little stroll or swim.
If you want a strictly ocean view go with the buildlings on the cliff. We were in 6. Quite the maze of elevators to get to the pool. worth it for me, maybe not so much for you.
Look at the map on their webpage to see what you'd like.
with no moon and no sunlight you see nothing at night. some folks like a little more.
Building 4 gives you the ocean and the pool.
About 90 percent of the rooms are ocean view, if not ocean front
Elisabeth and I did not stay at the Maui Sheraton but the property looked very nice. Also the location is great if you wish to spend a lot of time snorkeling. The sunset show is also worthwhile. It's location makes it the unique resort it is. Just look at the picture.
Sheraton in Lahaina, Maui. Expensive, but very comfortable. Huge but nice, but they will charge you 30 USD for double beach chair.
The Plantation Inn is a resplendant, gracious turn of the century style inn and in a perfect location to explore the town of Lahaina, Maui. A traditional B & B due to the restaurant on premise, a hot breakfast is served every morning. (Health codes in Hawaii make it difficult for most B & B's to serve anything but a continental breakfast).
The rooms are done in the Victorian period, and the staff is delightful.
Note: Our room was over the restaurant which was a bit noisy but by 10 PM everything settled down and became peaceful again. We had a room in the front of the hotel which had a very large veranda with wicker furniture. The sunsets over Lahaina were beautiful from our veranda. The rooms (we had a suite) were spacious and well appointed. The stained glass detailing was exquisite. The pool area was beautiful and this is where breakfast was served every morning.
Chef Gerard is wonderful, on a very busy night all I wanted was dessert which he prepared and sent up to my room (my husband had to leave the islands early so I was alone). Great coffee!!!
We did a lot of research before we went on our honeymoon and are so happy we went with the Sheraton. Everythng about our stay was wonderful. The service was exceptional - upgraded to ocean view upon arrival by Jeremy; all the staff went out of their way for us. The grounds are spectacular. We toured the whole island and nothing compared. Yeah, the Grand Wilea is beautiful, but we didn't go to Maui to look at a $30 million art collection. The food at Keka'as Terrace at the Sheraton was fantastic. We had a package that included the breakfast buffet and it was worth it. I can't say enough about the place. We absolutely loved it. We definately will be returning to the Sheraton Maui.

If you had a choice, which of these two hotels, the Sheraton or Westin, would you choose and why? Or, why would you not stay at one of the two. Thanks a lot.
The Sheraton because of the sprawling grounds
The Sheraton, because of beach location at Black Rock for snorkeling.
And better Mai tai's
Thanks for the great replies, I appreciate your help.
Aloha!!
We have had the opportunity to stay at both over our 30 years of visiting this Island. The Westin used to be our favorite but since the Sheraton completely renovated and expanded it's hotel we now think it is the better of the two. Plus it has the best beach on Kaanapali Resort.

Any thoughts on choosing between the Hyatt Regency and the Sheraton Maui? Thanks, as always your help and information is greatly appreciated.
Our kids just came back and spent a few days at the Sheraton and the Weston. They liked the Sheraton better. I have seen all three and just from the grounds and location my pick would be the Sheraton.
I thought I recognized this question.
Aloha!!
We have had the opportunity to stay in all of the hotels on Kaanapali beach. We stayed the Hyatt Regency last October. Actually the Westin has been our favorite for years but since the Sheraton completely renovated and built onto their property we would choose it as it has the best beach. You will see some of the resorts have little or no beach since hurricane Iniki hit the island several years ago. You can walk the entire beach front in about a 30 minute walk. There are many restaurants and shops in the resorts and the Whalers Village.
We love Maui and the Kaanapli Beach area.
Relax and Enjoy!!

We are staying at maui eldorado has anyone had problems there?
Great location at the top of a golf course looking down on the Sheraton Maui to the left and the Royal Lahina on the right. The beach, which is a little bit of a walk, is broad and smooth, with rock formations to the Sheraton side for great snorkeling. Not as crowded as the main Kaanapali beach that starts on the other side of the Sheraton Maui. Aloha
Nope, The broiled lobster turned out great with the BBQ'ed steaks.
The only problem is the left turn off the highway when coming in from the Lahaina direction.
I have stayed there many times and love it.
Hey Grif, the secret to turning left from Lahina, is to turn left at the signal to the entrance at the Kaanapali Resorts(Whaler's Village and then turn right up the street throught the golf course,) You will wind up at the El Dorado and further at the Royal Lahaina without the scary left turn off the main highway. Aloha, Larry
Takes the adventure out of it. LOL
I have done that too and it is good for the poster to know to.
