Just got back from 5 nights (2/18-2/23/04) at the Westin Maui, a very nice stay. I used Starwood points to pay for this stay and asked to be upgraded in my room. They gave me a Beach Tower room on the 5th floor. The room accomodations were very large for the two of us. We enjoyed the view from the balcony the most. We were able to see whales from our room every morning. Be prepared to pay for all the extras in this hotel. Even with points, there was a $15 per day Resort tax. Well worth it though.
While there, take the Pacific Whale Foundation whale watch in Lahinia ($20 per person for 2 hours, best deal in town).
You have to have nerves of steel to do that road to Hana. Lots of hairpin curves and single lane bridges. The places to pull off are not marked and we didnt find em other than the black sand beaches of the state park. Very cool.

5 pools, great beach, next to Whalers Village which has a food court and the
Rusty Harpoon (Great happy hour drink and bar food specials). I burned all my digital pictures to a disk at the camera shop in the mall ($8)
