The place I go to RELAX

Most people visiting Maui prefer high class marble floored hotels. When you go to Hana you must remember that you are visiting a destination of the Alii of Maui. A place to renew your soul and lift your spirit. The cabins are weathered from years of bruttle sea water ocean blowing against them, and gallons of rain pounding them night after night. When you go to the tropical jungle you will find Gecko's in the kitchen and on the exterior walls.... here in Hawaii we find them a sign of good luck. They are harmless and kill the thousands of bugs that live in the rain forrest. The garden spiders actually do no harm... they are big but only eat bugs weaving a marvelous web that stays sometimes for 3 months while they eat the mosquito's they catch. The lovely Hala tree's remind me of a scene from fantasia when the buckets had the brooms.
The fishing and shoreline are unbeatable.... the crashing of the waves on the black lava rock soothes the spirit. I would agree that the friendliness of the receptionist could be better. Each of us has to read the rules carefully in Hawaii.... as they are VERY regimented here.
Each cabin is cleaned by the previous visitor so if you are the type that needs maid service then this is NOT for you as you are the maid, and the chef. The hotplates are slow and cumbersome so bring something that does not require boiling. The full sized refrid. is more than adequate as well as the nice addition of the microwave. The bunk beds are old and so is the twin beds in the main area, but folks you are paying $60.00 for an ocean view cabin in Heavenly Hana.
There are plenty of vacation rentals that are lovely if you want to pay the extra dollar, but for me I love the ease of walking to the princess pools and playing under the arch at Wainapanapa beach. While visiting please enjoy the beauty of the flowers, the scent of the ocean and the aloha spirit of the generation of people from Hana. Don't forget Hasagawa store!!! The Hotel Hana is SO lovely that for those of you that need that extra attention, look into that!!!

Unique Quality: Walking distance to the ocean, princess pools
Dry tin roof to listen to the nightly rain
Beautiful ginger flowers, hala tree's and coconuts to eat
