Best place to stay on the North Shore

Iwia Street in V- Land has an awesome house that you can rent- and it is affordable. Really nice place!

The owner lets you use his beach cruiser bikes, and selected surf and body boards when you rent the house.

Turtle Bay Resort: Where Turtles don't mind being on their back!

Since most of the people that have ever read my hotel tips know, I travel mainly for business, and therefore stay in places that are a little higher on the room rates.

Turtle Bay Resort is the closest hotel with all the amenities that a business traveler, or someone who reads Conde Nast frequently would stay at if they were headed to Haleiwa, since every other hotel in the town is designed primarilly for the surfer/backpacker.

Turtle Bay has one of the nicest courses in Oahu, and used to be a Hilton, so the bedrooms are definitely above par.

One thing I will warn you on however is that the service declined when Hilton pulled its name from the hotel.

Great view of the ocean and bays of the North Shore.

DO NOT stay at the Turtle Bay...

DO NOT stay at the Turtle Bay Hilton.

Although this hotel is situated in a wonderful place, it is desperately old and falling into the sea. Bits of the building are falling off, and the rooms are in great need of refurbishing. If you stay here you will be very disappointed unless you have a golf fixation.
