Two Blocks from Waikiki..great views

Great location and close to the bus stop. It's close to everything and walking distance. You make your own meals or walk just 10 minutes and reach all the restaurants you can imagine. Make sure to walk along Waikiki beach at night and see it come alive..it never sleeps.

Unique Quality: What I like the most is the ability of going to the fresh market and buying fresh fruits and vegetables to make my own meals, plus I save a little and can stay longer.

ASTON AT THE WAIKIKI BANYAN HOTEL

LOCATION: Honolulo, Oahu

REVIEW: Would not stay there again or recommend to others.

ROOMS: Unclean. Got some sort of foot infection from the dirty kitchen floor which is still being investigated by doctors.

Before I left they had to spray some sort of pest control.

Front desk staff unfriendly.

Wonderful Place!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed here at Waikiki Banyan for a week, May 29 - June 5, 2004. I highly recommend the hotel. We got 2 one-bedroom condos on the 34th floor with ocean-views. The view was excellent and we could see the city and diamond head. We were located on the corner of tower 2 and had no problems. The only drawbacks of the place was no ice machines and the tv had very few stations (not even Disney or AMC!). We were close to the beach and night entertainment. The house cleaners were very friendly and came daily. Please email me if you want more information about our experience.

Great place to stay

by A TripAdvisor Member

We have just had ten days at the Waikiki Banyan (Darmic). These are unserviced apartments and were great. Wonderful views, clean and fully equiped. Just like a motel and what a New Zealander would expect. One Block from the beach was a big plus. There was also a lovely pool complex complete with a great barbecue area which was a gathering place for our group in the evenings. Buses were right on the doorstep so getting around was easy. Our hosts were fantastic, but they are Kiwis too so perhaps I am biased.
I would recommend this place to fellow travellers who don't want or expect a five star unit but want a comfortable, convenient place to stay.

Cheap, convenient and beautiful sun rises

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the Aston Waikiki Banyan from August 13-20, 2004. It was great. We requested a higher-level room per Trip Advisor and received a Mountain View 37th floor one-bedroom unit that was functional and breathtaking. The sunrises are spectacular but also sleep disturbing. Black out curtains would significantly improve the bedroom. The bedroom had sliding doors and there is only one TV on a movable cart for the whole unit. The high rise is just two blocks from the beach. Our kitchen was well equipped, even included a rice cooker, although the refrigerator had a strange smell which we eliminated with a box of baking soda. The pool was small but fun for the kids although it was generally always crowded. The mini-mart in the first floor was surprisingly cheap as far as Honolulu standards. The Astonishing Kids deal saved us a bundle (discounts at Sea Life Park, the Creation Luau and the Dole Pineapple plantation). The bathroom was small but had a separate vanity and sink. The lanai held two chairs. The air conditioning unit in the living room was strong enough to make it too chilly at times despite 90-degree temperatures. The parking attendants were great for directions and the desk staff was always helpful. We encountered a few minor problems that were quickly resolved by the staff (Missing safe key, broken TV remote control, clogged kitchen sink and sticky shower door). The rooms are well insulated, we did not hear a peep from the other rooms or the adjacent elevator shaft. The laundry facilities are limited, just one washer and dryer per floor, precluding multi loads, but it was always available when I needed it.

Not So Freindly, Many Better Options in Waikiki

by TripAdvisor Member keithpaul

My wife and i stayed in Tower 1, 11th floor. We arrived June 5-10. We would not stay there again, Roaches all over the room and kitchen area. They sprayed the room. The cleaning lady went through my luggage everyday and items were missing. Management was not to concerned, Aston Resorts customer relations sent me a letter saying sorry. This place is a dump compared to other resorts. I recommend Prince Kuhio accross the street or if you cn afford it, Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Happy at the Banyan

by TripAdvisor Member PeteNene

We arrived at the Banyan from New York on June 4 2004. Were were in Tower 1 on the 29th floor. The room met all our expectations and it was good to have a self contained kitchen so we could cook in if we wanted. We had a view of the ocean and happily sat on our balcony most evenings and enjoyed the view.
Our room was serviced daily and was presented very well and was very clean.
The Banyan was well appointed being only a 5 minute walk to the ocean and shops etc.
We would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to have a clean, close place to stay.

Loved Our Stay at the Banyon

by TripAdvisor Member Mzznlink

After reading some of the reviews of the Banyon we were worried as to what we'd find. We were pleased to find a very clean room; no bugs, mold, walls that needed cleaning/repainting, or carpet that needed replacing. It should be noted that we did not go thru Aston for this room (1 bedroom/sofa sleeper in living room and full kitchen), but an agency that operates property in several condos.

We found the location within easy walking distance to the sights along Wakiki Beach, although the walk back from Lewers Street took a bit.

With the exception of the room needing a splash of color and the A/C unit removing a bit more of the humidity (room was cool enough) we'd go back next trip, especially at less than $100.00/night

Bed bugs...

by A TripAdvisor Member

Ended up at the Banyan because Ocean Resort which is across the street was full. We normally pay anywhere from $58-68/night at Ocean Resort for a room which is of equal shabbiness but without any bugs or roaches. Housekeeping showed up late in the afternoon so returning from our morning swim at noon our room was not made up. Our first room which had a great view of Koolau mountains had bugs in the sofa which gave me bites all over my back and legs. We even found something which looked like a tick on one of my kids which I promptly killed. Gross man. Not worth the money, or the rec deck, or the pool or... Go to Ocean Resort for half the money and no bugs (well as far as we could tell from staying there 4 separate times) Auwe!

I will be in Honolulu in June 06 and have a reservation at the Waikiki Banyan Condos. Has anyone stayed there before, what can you tell me about it?
