Shrimp Truc

Where is a good way to eat local road side Shrimp

Re: Shrimp Truc

by BLewJay

One place that we decided to visit was Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. On your way to the North Shore (up on the east coast), you'll come into the town of Kahuku. It's there you will find the white shrimp truck of Giovanni's. Been serving the best garlic, hot & spicy, and lemon butter shrimp for over 10 years. Nothing fancy, just picnic tables, paper plates, plastic forks and knives...but awesome shrimp that's finger licking good. By the time we got there late in the afternoon, all they had was the Garlic Shrimp Scampi (12 large shrimp smothered in garlic with 2-scoops of rice topped with crunchy garlic).

Phone: (808) 293-1839
Address: Located in the town of Kahuku
Directions: Look for the white truck off Hwy. 83 (Kamehameha Hwy.)

Hope that this helps.

Aloha/ Down by the shack, by the sea, that's where the best shrimp be. Romy's Kahuku Prawns and Shrimp is ono, but then I guess after almost 40 years of eating shrimp on the point and around from North Shore to Kahuku, I like mine at the shack. Romy's beats the truck vans because the shrimps are fresh each day and cooked live, not frozen or refrigerated. From Kaneohe, where I had home, it is just past the old sugar mill, before Turtle Bay. I know there all many Shrimp Trucks, but for me, Romy's no ka oi. Check out their whole website for full picture from videos to meunu:

Just in case, you want to choose or sample others, here's the full truck sites:

Travel Tips for Honolulu

St. Patrick's Day Parade

by Blatherwick

It seems that I'm always in Hawaii around St. Patrick's Day. They celebrate the day in style with a parade that starts at Fort DeRussy and heads down Kalakaua Avenue to Kapahulu Avenue. Crowded streets are the norm during the parade and the various Irish bars are in full swing. The parade does include some green but you are more likely to see more traditional Hawaiian dresses as well as the high school and college bands. It's a good parade even if it isn't that Irish.

Nero of the Sea

by b1bob

Mama, my brother, and my Grandma went with me. My brother and I got in the warm water and I tripped over some seaweed. I pulled it up, throwing it in the air, and it landed over my brother's left ear. He looked like a Nero of the Sea. Everybody but my brother was laughing and he became vexed and miffed (he would have laughed his fool head off if it happened to anyone else).

The Famous Lookout

by machomikemd

Pali Lookout was the sight of the famous Battle for the unification of the Hawaiian Islands in the 1700th century! It was here in 1795 that King Kamehameha and his warriors defeated the O'ahu armies by sending them over these steep, forested cliffs and claiming his victory and uniting the Hawaiian Islands. The breathtaking sight and the gruesome history of the battle fought here is enough to cause a chill to run up your spine.

From this vantage point you can see Kaneohe Bay, Chinaman's Hat, and Hawaii Pacific's Windward Campus.
