Waikiki Nightlife
by SFHulaGIrl
Where are some chill places in or near Waikiki to hear live music? Also, club suggestions are welcome. In addition, are there really outrigger canoe rides offered on the beach. If so, what's the average price? Finally, where are your favorite restaurants in Waikiki for good, inexpensive local food?

The Zippy's chain has inexpensive food - saimin, won ton mein, etc. I also like the Ala Moana Food Court, especially the Hawaiian food concession.

Aloha, T with a VT name like SFHulaGirl, you should be able to tell everyone about the live music and clubs in Waikiki. Yes, there are really outrigger canoe rides offered on the beach. If you get the Go Oahu Card, it is free. If not, $25.00. The Go Oahu Card is not cheap but you get more bang for your buck. See their website: http://www.smartdestinations.com/oahu-attractions-and-tours/_d_Hio-p1.html?pass=Hio_Prod_Go
The previous poster named a good inexpensive chain. There is also L & L Hawaiian Barbecue that I like. See website: http://hawaiianbarbecue.com/live/locations/hawaii/oahu/
All the bars and clubs in Waikiki are chill places for live music. One of the bet is Rum Fire. Of course, more are in Honolulu. See website and click on what you want for vibe, chill, etc: http://www.blackbookmag.com/guides/honolulu/nightlife/l/waikiki/s/live-music

Travel Tips for Honolulu
Watching sunset from Waikiki beach
by csordila
Surfers bring in their boards, tourists gather along the shoreline and dinner boats cruise out towards the horizon, all to watch the sun set over Waikiki Beach. In the last couple of years, there have been free movies on the beach. Tourists from around the world can view movies on an outdoor 30 foot screen. This event in Waikiki is also called "Sunset on the Beach".
Urban Paradise

My favorite thing about Honolulu is how quickly you can go from relaxing on Waikiki to shopping and eating in the most trendy spots in town without ever getting in a car. I loved the 24-hour activity. There are always people outside walking around and having a good time.

take the Tantalus Drive tour, see the view of Diamond Head, take a walk on Kalakaua St. and see the famous Duke Kahanamoka statue, drive through the Pali Tunnel and see the beautiful mountains. Hearing and seeing The Brothers Cazimero at Chi's Beistro at Aloha Tower Marketplace. They've got the greatest voices I've ever heard. They are very fan-friendly. I've had my picture taken with them several times.

Get up early at sunrise and hike to the top of Diamond Head. The views are awesome....especially on a clear day. The hike will take you a half hour, but it is well worth it. Hiking up to the top of Diamond Head in the morning, hitting the beach and playing tennis in the afternoon, then catching the sunset on the deck of the Outrigger Canoe Club with Mai Tai in hand. A perfect day in the Islands!
