Mother's day brunch scam

They advertised champange brunch with rack of lamb. They require prepayment. then they do not serve rack of lamb or offer free champagne. Pretty sure it was for the same price or possibly cost more. Excuse was that this was a special Mother's day brunch meaning the only thing different was no champagne and no rack of lamb. Pretty ***ty way to treat those individuals who served our country.... never fear they offered to sell champagne for extra at the cash bar. Very slimey.
While i cannot fault the barefoot bar from allowing drunk officers to sit, they can be faulted for continuing to serve the out of control and loud drunks such that my parents chose to end their peace day having a drink and enjoying waikiki beach.

Unique Quality: service is pathetic. it is quite obvious that management does not care what type of service thier staff provides its guests.

Great Place but...

A beautiful place, beautiful location and wonderful experience but two things that really bothered me.
The first was when my wife went back to our room mid-morning and found a strange man in the room, looking in a drawer. He said he was with the hotel and was just checking up on the maid service (she hadn't been there yet that day).

The second was when I went to the counter and asked to see the manager to report the incident and was told to wait, he would be with me shortly. He has an office in the lobby with a glass wall so everything he was doing was evident. He was talking to two maids, joking and laughing. I waited 40 minutes and finally gave up.

Since nothing was missing and no other incidents occurred we let it go and finished our vacation.

Unique Quality: Not available to the general public. Only military.

The hale koa was great

I was a little nervous about staying in a "military" hotel BUT, it was a great surprise! It was a great hotel. It has an adult pool and a family pool. The pools were nice but who cares anyways, you are right on the beach. And even better you are on the end of Waikiki beach where it is not as crowded. I was given excellent customer service at the hotel. You can rent a car and make tour arrangements in the lobby. There is also a PX there where you can buy snacks, clothes, souvenoirs, etc. w/ no tax. There are beautiful flowers all around, it has everything you need. The rooms were clean and average and have a great view of the ocean. I would absolutely stay there again. If you visit their website, it does NOT do it justice. I dont have anything negative to say about it. We were there 10 days and it was great!

Unique Quality: Landscape is beautiful. Pools were average. Rooms were average. Access to beach was excellent and not crowded at all. The hotel luau was ok, but there are several other luaus to go to that give you a more authentic experience. Great price, great location.

Go someplace else!

The rooms were very small and very old. The bathroom was just plain icky. The scenery wasn't bad and the pool area was pretty nice. However, I'd suggest shelling out the extra $20 - $50/ night and stay someplace else for a memorable stay in Hawaii.

HALE KOA

THIS IS A REALLY NICE HOTEL NEXT TO THE FORT DE RUSSY BEACH PARK AND ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE HOTEL..I HAVE ALSO ATTENDED A LOT OF CHRISTMAS PARTIES AND ALSO GONE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC AT SOME OF THE LOUNGES THERE.Hale Koa Hotel at the Ft. DeRussy Armed Forces Recreation CenterTHIS ONLY FOR MILITARY !!! OR IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE IN THE MILITARY....

Unique Quality: I LOVE THE BACKYARD AREA WHICH IS WITH BANYAN TREES AND JUST A BEAUTIFUL FEEL OF A TROPICAL GARDEN...

Hale Koa Hotel

All the rooms are basically the same---one king, two queen or two double beds with air-conditioning, the usual assortment of bathroom complimentary items, data ports, and a cooling cabinet for drinks. Most of the rooms also have a lanai. They are comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The hotel consists of 2 towers with 817 rooms, several restaurants, 3 pools, a video game room, a BX as well as many other stores, a health club, a parking garage with $4/day parking for it's guests (a real bargain in Waikiki), and 3 dinner shows.
The Hale Koa is a huge hotel complex within Fort DeRussey Park. Fort DeRussey Park in in on the Honolulu end of Waikiki, on the beach and next to the Hilton. At the entrances to the hotel complex are military personel checking id's. You can't even get on the property without proper id.

It may not be any cheaper than staying at an average hotel in Waikiki, but this is not an average place. The grandeur, security, and location of this hotel makes it worth the rate.

Unique Quality: The Hale Koa is a military built and run hotel. This hotel is for people in, or retired from, or a family member of someone in the military, the Coast Guard, Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service, or Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or in the U.S. Department of Defense Civilians. Rates are determined by rank and room category---better the view and higher rank, the more you pay.

Hale Koa, if you're military, Hilton Hawaiian Village if you're civilian.
Depends upon rank and status

Unique Quality: For military member, shoppette, reasonably priced room and restaraunt, as well as excellent beach access. Great view from ocean side rooms. Don't get the very top suite facing ocean. Air conditioners from roof can become annoying.

Amazing rooms for an amazing price!

I stayed at the Hale Koa in September of 2003. ITS WAS AMAZING- the Luau was awesome, girls were making Lei's Don Ho's friend was a wonderful singer. My fiance was picked out of the audiance along with many other people to hula on stage, they also had children on stage too. The Luau had great food that included a pig cooked in the ground.
Every morning l woke up to beautiful mountains and a very nice room.
The rooms were perfect- no bugs- no mess- PERFECT. They had an exchange in the hotel- no taxes- must show military ID though. Hotel was right on the beach- you walk through a beautiful garden and there you are- beautiful Waikiki. There is also a little park where you can barbeque and picnic right on the beach. Many volleyball nets and just minutes away from the strip.

Hale Koa FIRST CLASS!!!!!

My husband and I stayed at Hale Koa in August of 2003. I was first class service. Food was terrific. Location was gorgeous....and the price was the best. A 5 star hotel for a 2 star price... We are planning a return trip for May 2004. Can't wait!!Continental Airlines is the only straight shot through from Houston. I recommend a non-stop flight by far.... The 9 nights there was truly paradise!!!!

Awesome Hotel Super #1 Returning Feb 28th

The Hale Koa is the best hotel, great rooms, great food, great fun. We were there in April 2002 and are returning February 28,2004. I'm so looking forward to my stay at the Hale Koa. One of the most awesome things there is the big banyon tree in the courtyard with all it's lights of red white and blue. There is nothing bad to say about the Hale Koa, the beach is beautiful and the pools are great too. I hope to return there several times.
