This is a 60 year old accomodation that is to me, what Hawaii is all about. It is a 3 storey hotel divided into 2 sections framed by lush tropical trees and flowers; each section having its own pool. There is actually grass on the grounds, no concrete. The rooms are old but clean and each has a kitchenette and the all important lanaii. The service from all staff is amazing and they are always friendly and helpful. Each morning there is complimentary coffee, juice and sweets to start the day off...gives everyone a chance to meet each other. It has a family feel to it. Most of the quests are seniors but more families are begining to come here because it is kid friendly. It is getting very hard to find reasonable accomodation in Honolulu and especially ones that are not huge concrete highrises. The Breakers hotel next door is almost the same as the Hawaiiana and it has an awesome Japanese restaurant in it. The hawaiiana is by no means a luxury place but the ambience and service make it one of Hono's best places to stay
2 great pools Huge lanaiis kitchettes comfortable beds
Directions: It is only a 5-10 min stroll to the beach that is in front of the Outrigger Reef next door to Fort Deruusy Park......beach here is less crowded than downtown Waikiki
