On Oahu -
It's a lot more posh than I care for and you can easily get lost around, but it's a great hotel, with over 100 designer shops. Each building has a great view of Oahu - Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head Crater, bustling Honolulu.

Hello;
Just got back from 2 weeks in Hawaii, 6 nights at the HHV on Waikiki (2/12/04 - 2/16/04) ; another 5 nights at the Westin Maui. Used hotel points for each stay.
My tip for all you Hilton Honors members is to ask for the Kalia Tower with Executive Club access. We bought 2 meals the entire week we were there. The food they put out is more than sufficient ; soft drinks are free. Market rate on beer and wine. The staff there were wonderful and very helpful. The room we had was good size and modern as this tower was just built 2 years ago. Not a great view from our room, but the view from the Executive Lounge made up for that.
Another suggestion; before I would book activities at the hotel; look into the consolidators ; I think we used one called Affordable Tours near the International Market to book our Grand Circle Tour of the island.. We paid about $20 each for a Roberts Hawaiian tour that advertised for $60 each. Use your bus pass (purchased at ABC stores which are in HHV) to get there.
Enjoyed the HHV; but there are lots of people, all the time, and lots of kids everywhere.

Composed of several towers, the Hilton Hawaiian Village didn't disappoint us. The setting is a tropical paradise right on the beach.
This picture of the "Rainbow Tower" shows that the Rainbow is actually a magnificent mosaic and makes this the most picturesque hotel on Waikiki except for perhaps the legendary pink stucco Royal Hawaiian. There is a fabulous view of Diamond Head and the hotel is literally only steps away from the beach. The hotel grounds offer lush tropical surroundings such as gardens, pools and open air lobbies. The garden pools are stocked with koi fish, and ducks and a beautiful swan seem to beg for your attention. The tiki torches make it especially atmospheric at night.
Hilton Hawaiian Village is one of the many chain hotels in the United States. The hotel is a four-star hotel located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since the hotel is located a few blocks away from the Waikiki Beach, the hotel is quieter than the usual buzz at the main busy street close to the beach. It has a beautiful garden and has more space than the usual hotels in Honolulu.
In the website of the Hilton's Hawaiian Village, it says: Located on Waikiki's widest stretch of beach, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa is nestled on 22 oceanfront acres offering the perfect mix of exceptional hotel accommodations and classic Hawaiian hospitality. Imagine lush tropical gardens, waterfalls, exotic wildlife and priceless artwork. As Waikiki's only true resort, we offer you the Village Experience; a perfect blend of luxurious accommodations, over 20 restaurants and lounges, shopping, recreational and cultural activities, nightly entertainment and more! Has beautiful tropical gardens, waterfalls, exotic wildlife. It is a very spacious hotel.
Note: Since the space on directions below is not enough, I am putting it here:
From Honolulu International Airport, take H-1 Freeway East, to Honolulu. Once on the freeway, look for Waikiki directional signs and stay in the right lane. You will exit onto Nimitz Highway. Stay on Nimitz Highway, which will change into Ala Moana Blvd., for about 15 minutes. You will pass Ala Moana Shopping Center on your left, Ala Moana Beach Park on your right, go over a short bridge, then watch for the Hilton Hawaiian Village sign on your right in about 2 blocks. Stay in the right lane. Turn right on Kalia Road (right after the sign - you'll see 3 bronze statues to your right as you round the corner). Go 200 feet, then turn right into our driveway.

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. This hotel has a lot of pros and cons.
PROS:
-This is a large resort that offers pretty much everything you could want right on the property: dining, shopping, swimming, shuttle buses, Hertz rental cars, internet station...
- There is a nice pool and easy access to the beach
- Our room on the 16th floor of the Tapa Tower had an AMAZING view of Waikiki.
CONS
- This resort was so large that it was difficult to find things and the property felt really impersonal. We kept having to go back to the concierge (and wait in line) to ask simple questions about where things were.
- There were LOTS of kids here. Not the most romantic or quiet environment if you're on a couples trip or a honeymoon.
- No hot tubs. Tons of pools, but no hot tubs. Maybe not a huge "con," but still...
Overall, I think we got a very good rate here. We were really impressed that we could get such an amazing ocean view for that price. However, if we'd had a little more money to spend, I would have preferred another hotel.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village has many things to recommend it. First, it's huge, with at least five towering hotel buildings, several bars and restaurants, shops, two pools and a large strand of Waikiki beach. It's no wonder that the Hilton hosts many famous guests, including Chinese Premier Jiang Zemin. I don't know what Mr. Jiang liked best, but my favorite part about the Hilton was the many mini-environments that are set up on the grounds that are built to house fish and birds. They even have penguins!! This is so unique (in Hawaii, at least) that we would use the pengins as our meeting spot. "For dinner, let's meet at the penguins at seven," we'd say, sounding like we were starring in a bad detective movie.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village offered the opportunity to hang ten with surf lessons. Our grandson regrets he didn't attempt lessons, but for $90 you'll receive a 1/2 hour of instruction from an expert and 1 1/2 hours on your board waiting for a decent wave.
I look for a shady spot when we visit a beach, so for $70 we rented one large umbrella, three lounges and one boogie board...in my estimation, worth every penny ( pic #2)!
REMINDER: Our guidebook alerted us to bring water shoes, because there are small rocks strewn about the ocean floor. Believe me, you needed them. I packed shoes for my husband and grandson and forgot my own--ouch!
It was fabulous hotel, but really expensive. Nice staff, a lot of shops, restaurants bars, but again too expensive for us. Animals. We watched there pinguins, flamingos, ducks, big fish and other animals that sometimes I didn't noticed, I think. Also the hotel has own perfomances almost every day with dances and singing. Fireworks each Friday.
I think that the nicest place to stay in Hawaii is the HiLton hawaiian Village. It ofers everything to it's visitors and then some! The friendly staff are always willing to help you or answer any questions that you might have regarding your stay with them. This hotel backs right onto the Ocean! The open concept dinning room is a wonderful place to have breakfast while watching the sunrise or set depending what meal you are enjoying cooked by the world class chefs!

Hilton Hawaiian Village - Pool Rules
Hi,
I am trying to manage the cost of vacation for the whole family. Got a conference at the Hilton Hawaiian Village to attend.
The Hilton is just too much. Are there condos nearby that I rent for the whole familty for more than a week?
The Ilikai, Discovery Bay, Waikiki Shore. If you are military or ex-Military you can use Ft. Derussy
Thanks, it helps me search for nearby hotels. Unfortunately, no military discounts here for me.
