honolulu's worst hotel
Staff didn't seem to care but they did try. Worst experience was bed bugs in our room (268) the cleaning lady took care of it as soon as I brought it too her attention. However I believe that bedbug prevention should be top priority for EVERY hotel. It was easily noticeable that the bed skirt hadn't been washed in years because it was black instead of green like the matching blanket and there was an awful smell like roadkill or something. So we tossed it outside, packed bags and checked out. Other than that, loud drunk people every night outside your door, sitting on your car (happened to us )... just in places that they shouldn't be in. If you are young, single and just need a place to party in honolulu then this is the place for you. Otherwise don't stay. Spend more and get better accomodations.
Unique Quality: Pacific marina inn happens to be located in between warehouses near the airport. There is no view here. They have a pool but I wouldn't step foot in it.

Any hotel recommendation for one night near the airport?
I will reach honolulu from kauai on Jan 21 Sunday,
and then need to stay in honolulu for the night,
22nd morning plane to Seoul.
Any recommendations on a budget hotel which is close to the airport?

The Pacific Marina Inn is under $100.
There are rooms at HNL that rent for 8 hours BUT, I have heard horror stories about them.

You can try the Honolulu Airport Hotel (www.honoluluairporthotel.com). It is located right next to the airport and is the closest of any.
I just tried their website and see that it is now an Ohana property. Ohana and Outrigger are owned by the same company. The Ohana brand is their "value" property.
The hotel is aged and is located in an industrial area. But for just one night there like we did, it functioned just fine.

Waikiki is not very far from the Airport by the city bus $2, if you dont have a big luggage
Ala Moana Bd is a good place, and you can walk to Waikiki from there.
Generally speaking, these Honolulu hotels will all be off Waikiki Beach, but usually still within easy walking distance to the sand.
