Holiday Inn Waikiki - not close to beach
I stayed in Holiday Inn Waikiki on my first arrival in Hawaii on 8th May 2004 .
Then i went to Big Island.
when i was back to Oahu, i stayed in Holiday Inn Waikiki for two more nights on 14th and 15th May,
as included in my air + accommodation package (approximate USD$65 per room per night).
If you are not keen to go to the beach, this hotel location is great.
it is close to Ala Moana Shopping Centre.
There are a number of good restaurants in walking distance,
even a 24 hours open coffee house.
I stayed in a standard room, so no balcony, no views.
but it is clean.
i just hate smoking rooms/floors, really bad odour...when i booked the hotel, non-smoking king sized bed rooms all were booked out.
Friendly reception.
i like the gift shop very much.
good price, good gifts, it even sell stamps.
i could just drop the postcards (with stamps)that i wanted to send out in the reception - very convenient then. Pool is small.
no views in the pool.
parking costs USD8 per day.
the coin-operated washing machines are good.
the nearest restaurant is just 2-3 minutes walk - chinese all you can eat - good food, reasonable price (lunch USD6.99).
by the way i could check in at 10am!
late check-out till 5pm costs USD40 + tax though.
internet rate on its website: USD95.63
