4th of July in Honolulu

by Goobs

My hubby and I will be flying in to Honolulu on July 4th. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to see some Independence Day fireworks??? We will have a car. Perhaps there are some local festivals going on that day???

I would guess Pearl Harbor as the place to be.

The largest firework display is at the Ala Moana shopping center. Google their website to find out more information. www.alamoanacenter.com

Aloha. as mentioned the Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu has one of the largest fireworks display in the United States. All free. A car is nice, but it will be crowded. At the North Shore, the Turtle Bay Resort has a fireworks show with no charge for parking or admission. Food vendors will be there as well starting at 5:30 p.m. for the opening. On the windward side, Kailua has an all day party with parade and fireworks on Monday, the 5th of July, with fireworks after sunset at the Kailua District Park. A great day to spend in Kailua with the white powder sand at the beach and then the fireworks show.

Travel Tips for Honolulu

BE OPEN TO WHAT IT IS......BEAUTIFUL!

by Onedragon

MANY TIMES WE GO PLACES AND WE HAVE A PRECONCEIVED IDEA OF WHAT THE PLACE SHOULD LOOK LIKE AND THEN WE CAN BE DISAPPOINTED IN IT!!!
I THINK THAT IS SOMETIMES TRUE WITH PEOPLE COMING TO HONOLULU... ...SINCE HONOLULU IS ALSO A CITY LIKE MOST CITIES ...BUSY..OVER-CROWDED.... .......EXPENSIVE...ETC..
ONE NEEDS JUST TO ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT DOES OFFER .....IT IS THEN ,WHEN WE AREN'T WRAPPED UP IN THINKING IT SHOULD BE LIKE WE HAD IMAGINED IT..... A GORGEOUS BEAUTIFUL PLACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WEATHER IS THE SWEETEST THING AND THEN THE BEAUTY OF THE AREA AND LAND!!!!

Best Sand so far

by raevnzno

One of my favorite places on Oahu is Waikiki beach down near Queens beach. Soft Sand, quiet waves. A great place for some major relaxation and recharging. Just dont forget the sunscreen! The smell of the Air. When you step off of the plane and get that first full breath of the amazing perfumed air, you whole body responds. The ocean, the plumeria flowers, the rain.........your whole soul vibrates and sighs, yes this is the good stuff.

The best place to get souviners is the Aloha Flea Market. It is held every Wed, Sat & Sun at Aloha Stadium between Pearl Harbor and Pearl City. Plan on spending the day. My wedding was on the beach at sunset on a private beach on Barber's Naval Air Station.

a rental car is a must for this island.. get away from dukes at wiakiki and venture out into the island .. theres so many beautiful places to see .. the ni pai lookout!, wiamiea falls(the park is worth the admission) the polynisian cultural center!!! ($26 but well worth the price!!a must) the east side of oahu, theres a park near chinamans hat thats super!! theres very few places to snorkle ... sharks cove on the n.w. shore is about the best...wiakiki is o.k. if you like the mobs.. it gets a little better near the aqaurium..the park up there is beautiful

Waikiki Beach
Lovely beach...

Waikiki Beach
Lovely beach with a safe area if you are not into surfing.
This place was nothing like I expected it to be. I thought it would be packed with people and you wouldn't be able to find a spot to sit on the beach, but there was plenty of room. It may be different in the summer months.
