The Pantry for REAL burgers...
by bejso
The Pantry for REAL burgers (not the usual ones frozen with the card board taste). Don and Cathy French will give you a hard time- enjoy! Fly over the town in a small airplane- the blue astroturf at Boise State looks bright blue and out of place. The friendly natives, including me, of course. Boise and vicnity is the third fastest growing part of the US, caused either imigration or too much slip slap.
Great Gelato and Friendly Servers
by ATXtraveler about Dawson's Downtown
One thing that every weary traveler looking for coffee appreciates is a smile and great service. Paula, the college aged waitress working on a Monday night in downtown Boise fit this mold perfectly.
I had the pistachio gelato and a mexican mocha, both of which are wonderful.
I would highly recommend checking out this downtown coffeeshop!
Bogus Basin Ski Resort
by JetlagCity
The greatest thing about Bogus Basin is that it’s a short 45-minute drive from Boise, up a winding road into the mountains. Bogus has 7 chairlifts for downhill skiing and snowboarding, over 35 km. of cross-country ski trails, and a tubing hill. Skiing is popular in Boise – it’s the thing to do in winter here. It’s also a great way to escape the “inversions” that Boise is subject to in the winter, when the valley gets cold under gray skies but the ski resort is in the sun up in the mountains. Lessons are always available as are ski rentals. I actually worked here one winter during college, selling lift tickets and season passes. It beat waiting on tables : ) Call 208-342-2100 for the snow report!
Boise: A UK view
by PhotoTraveler
Being from the UK, ie, England and Wales, Boise is rather arid compared to the 'liquid sunshine' in my homeland.
All in all though, a good place to live in regard to economics, climate and quality of life.
