Travel Tips for Kellogg

City History

by bradbeaman

The town of Kellogg is named after Noah Kellogg who after many unsuccessful ventures tried gold prospecting in 1885. His donkey led him to Bunker Hill where not gold but silver is mined. Kellogg obtained the minieral rights made his fortune when the mine was sold in 1887, but died a pauper in 1907. This story is why it is said that the city was founded by a Jackass (his donkey).
