Idaho
A friend has a wonderful log cabin in Sandpoint, Idaho. It's on 4 acres of beautifully forested land -- mostly white birch and pine, I believe -- and on the Pend Oreille River.
In March of 2002, we went up to visit for a long weekend and had a wonderful time. The weather reports forecast a warming trend with temperatures going up as high as 20 degrees (f). Well boy were they wrong! When we got there it was in the high 20's (at night), but it actually warmed up to the 50's on one day. When we got there, his dirt road was snow and iced covered and treacherous in the turns. When we left, the road was ice and snow free and had turned to mud. Ahh, lovely. :-)
More pictures to come!
