Illinois Wesleyan University
If you are one who loves schools and higher education as my husband and I do [teachers for over 30 years], you would no doubt love visiting the campus of a private Liberal Arts university called Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois.
In a book by Jay Mathews called "Harvard Schmarvard: Getting Beyond the Ivy League to the College That is Best for You", he ranked Illinois Wesleyan University as #10.
After visiting the university, I can see why it was ranked #10; it is "one of the nation's most selective institutions" and thus attracts students who appreciate a great education. There is certainly an academic environment with a friendly and qualified faculty that inspires and challenges. This university has also been selected as one of 28 colleges and universities as "BEST BUYS" in the Fiske Guide to Colleges.
As a high school English teacher for over 30 years, I knew about Illinois Wesleyan University's grand reputation, especially in Music. I also knew that it had wonderful facilities. Incidentally, over the last decade, the university has built the new Ames Library, the Hansen Student Center, the Center for Natural Science, Alice Millar Center for the Fine Arts, and Shirk Center for Athletics and Recreation.
Besides the traditional liberal arts curriculum, they have four professional Schools: Art, Music, Theatre Arts, and Nursing.
Its total enrollment is 2,100 students. They have a 4-4-1 academic calendar [two 15-week semesters followed by an optional three-week May Term]. That optional time is used for travel, research, and internships. Photographs:

Besides being a fine university, Illinois Wesleyan University has a beautiful campus filled with friendly people, lovely architecture, and a talented faculty [93% hold doctorates or terminal degrees in their field.]
The only drawback to going to Illinois Wesleyan University is the cost. [$38,010 which includes Tuition, Fees, Room and Board]
