The Swissotel is situated right off the Chicago River, on Wacker Drive, just 4 blocks from theMagnificent Mile. The hotel puts you right in the middle of the Chicago Loop, and Michigan Ave, putting all the main attractions in easy walking distance for even lazy walkers like me. The hotel also provides guest with great views of Chicago, from any room in the hotel. We stayed on the south side facing beautiful Grant park, and Michigan Lake right out our window. From the north side of the hotel, u are treated with views of Navy pier and North Michigan Ave. The hotel provides great dining with 2 on sight restaurants, and also a great cocktail lounge in the lobby. One of the great highlights of th hotel was its penthouse spa. located on the 41st floor, it provides aerobic machines, strenth equipment, sauna, whirlpool and a 45ft. heated swimming pool. You cant beat swimming in a heated pool while you watch snow flurries coming down over th chicago skyline... | | | | Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago-CTB: Magnificent location
Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
Location is really key with this hotel. Its at the intersection of Delaware and Michigan, right on the Magnificent Mile and overlooking Lake Michigan. It makes a great base for exploiring downtown, the museums, etc. There is a bus stop about a block away, the John Hancock Building right across the street and its only a short walk to Lincoln Park, the lake and Navy Pier. The hotel is on the pricey side with decent sized rooms, not too bad considering space is at a premium in Chicago. The lakefront rooms have a fantastic view too. There is one restaurant advertised as "fine dining" and a more casual restaurant and bar, but there are better options, both fancy and casual, within blocks of the hotel. I'd heard a lot of complaints about service at this hotel, and it really is hit or miss. Almost everyone was friendly and helpful, but the front desk appeared to be having a few problems.
Its all about the location. There are so many things within walking distance from the hotel that you'll hardly need a bus pass, let alone a car. Leave a Comment

I loved the Carlton Inn and I will tell you more about it. It is next to Pindos. I stayed there on my Chicago trip with Katie and Colin. First thing was the price which was like $120/night but we split it 3 ways so it wasn't too bad. We were in a smoking room. They provided two ashtrays. One between the two beds and one on the shelf in the bathroom. We didn't use those. The second great thing about the room was the weird shower curtain. It had a clear panel at eye level enabling you to see who is in the shower at any given time. Cool. The weirdest thing was that there was a frame that had 3- 4"x6" photos in it of some dog. It was hilarious. We later found out that the dog was owned by the owner or manager of the Carlton Inn and the dog would make morning appearances in the lobby. Another great thing was the fact that the Carlton Inn says "free donuts!" until 9am but really you can get them as late as 12pm. Cool. You will be able to recognize the Carlton Inn by the deep red painted rocks outside that match the sign. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterAddress: 4944 S.
