Michigan City to McCormick Place

by feddyon

I want to park my car at Michigan City and take a train to get to McCormick Place. What train do I take and do I need to transfer somewhere?

Are you wanting to travel from Michigan City, Indiana or do you want to travel from Micigan Avenue in the city of Chicago?

Park at the 11th St. Michigan City South Shore Line station and take the train to McCormick Place. You won't have to transfer--the train stops right at McCormick Place. See Schedule:

Travel Tips for Chicago

Chicago's Chocolate History

by riorich55

On a recent trip to Las Vegas, we took a tour of the Ethyl M's Chocolate Factory. One of the signs on the short tour talked about Chicago's role in making chocolate popular in the United States. It states in the sign that at the 1893 Columbian Exposition one entire pavillion was devoted to chocolate and candy bars were a relatively new item which came out of this expo.

I can remember taking several tours of one of the M & M companies chocolate factories in Chicago when I was in the Cub Scouts in the 1960's. I even have a scrapbook from my Cub Scout Days with a brochure about the factory tour. The thing I remember most besides seeing all that candy being made was that at the end of the tour we each got several "samples" which our moms would never let us eat all at once. Halloween came twice a year when we made those trips.

The Friendly Confines

Chicago has a top notch symphony, a world class art museum, a great opera company, the best architecture in America, but what is it world renowned for? It's rinky dink little baseball stadium which houses one of the most inept teams in the history of competitive sports. The Chicagoans love their Cubbies and everyone should spend an afternoon in the bleachers at Wrigley Field at least once in their life.

Walk by the lakefront and go...

Walk by the lakefront and go to North Pier. North Pier is always a party like atmosphere. A ferris wheel is there to give a great view. It includes restaurants and shops, an Imax theater, and a Shakespear company. I love watching the old movies on the weekend at the Music Box theatre.

Chicago Tip

by chi8girl

My fondest memory of Chicago was sitting on the rocks at Northwestern University (Evanston) on Lake Michigan's shore watching the sun raise on a warm summer's morning. The waves were coming in with a slight breeze. The sky was black turning very slowly in an orangey red color. Joggers were out on the path. Owners and their dogs were taking their morning walks. My friend, Monica, was taking pictues at 5am. I was just enjoying my morning. If you get the chance to wake up early, go by Lake Michigan. There's a bike path that extends from Hollywood to the north to Hyde Park to the south. I think it's like 35 or more long. Some parts there are beaches, like at North Avenue and Oak Street.

Arts Institute of Chicago

Walking along Michigan Avenue you can visit the Art Institute of Chicago that contains nice impressionist and post-impressionist collections, miniature collections, etc.
