I love the House of Blues Hotel.

The Hotel Sax is located right in Marina City, a unique block right in the heart of Chicago downtown that is also home to the House of Blues and the "Corn Cobs". The location is really fantastic, it has a wonderful atmosphere and is very centrally located.
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, it's a large rectangular building which despite being ~20 storeys high is dwarfed by it's neighbours. The entrance is on the forecourt of the House of Blues, shadowed by the corn-cobs. The lobby is unassuming, but well equipped with free computers & printers, 3 reception desks and a concierge. The reception staff were friendly, efficient and accomodating.
The lobby is also the home to the "Crimson Lounge", a night club which becomes a hive of activity in the evenings. We didn't visit this, but from the doors it appeared to have an elegant and sublime atmosphere.
To the side of the lobby there are a bank of high-speed lifts, we never had to wait more than a few seconds for one to arrive. I was staying in a standard double room on the 9th floor, which was impressively decorated in a modern, eclectic style. The room was very spacious and outfitted with a large plasma screen TV, free internet access and fancy furnishings. The bathroom was not modern, but was spacious and well equipped with quality fittings.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant that shares the building, BIN 36, which is a wine bar and italian restaurant by night. The breakfast was adequate, reasonably priced, but nothing special.
Several restaurants are located within a few minutes walking distance, including the iconic Harry Caray's italian steakhouse which is on the same block.
Highly recommended, one of the best hotels I've stayed in, in a great location and for a reasonable price.
