by ilovechicagoequi

I looked on maps and the one at north wells looks boarded up? is it still open?
Re: Yolk Near North Side

Their web-site shows the N Wells location as still being open.

Note that the "East Ohio" location is actually on the corner of Grand and McClurg. (Don't ask me why!)
I've been to the Yolk on South Michigan. Good, but for a hearty brunch I prefer the "Bongo Room" and also "Orange", which both are in the South Loop area.

Orange in the South loop on Harrison is closed Chet, there is a location in River North at 738 N. Clark and River West at 730 W. Grand. I haven't eaten at either as when I'm craving decadent pancakes I head to the Bongo Room, usually the one at 1152 S. Wabash.
Yolk has a new location at 355 E. Ohio which should be closer to your hotel than the one on Wells (where is it that you are staying again?)
You might also have a look at the reviews for Eggsperience which is at 35 W. Ontario

Or if you are heading to the Field, Shedd or Adler, check out the Bongo Room at 1152 S. Wabash

Yes, the Ohio one will be closer. It looks to be brand new, I just saw it the other day and was surprised to see it there.

Another great place for breakfast is Ann Sather. I always go for the cinnamon rolls when we're in Chicago- m-m-m! The N Clark St location wouldn't be too far (in a car or taxi) from your hotel.

Travel Tips for Chicago
Beautiful City
by SunnyFL
Hello Girls,
My advice is to stay together. Do not go out alone at night. Chicago is a wonderful, beautiful, clean city but it can be dangerous so trust no one. Also, it can be desperately cold and windy so have some really warm clothes and boots.
Have a wonderful time in a wonderful city.
I hope I didn't scare you. I was born and raised there and have missed it during all the 12 yrs. I've been gone.
SunnyFL The public transportation is so easy to use. What I miss most are the cultural opportunities. The Museum of Science & Industry, Field Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago to name just a couple.
I never was much of a club person so I can't help there but do be careful.
Sears Tower
by shiran_d
This famous city landmark was once the world’s tallest building with 110 storeys. However, the Sears Tower lost its title in 1996, to the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Needless to say, the views are fantastic but so are the queues in the waiting rooms for the Skydeck on the 103rd floor. Every year, 1.5 million visitors come to take the 70-second ride in the lift (‘elevator’). Once at the top, if the weather is clear, the views reach Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana, up to 80km (50 miles) away. The Sears Tower guides are keen to inform people that, by using different criteria – highest occupied floor (469m/1431ft), highest roof (475m/1450ft), highest antenna (567m/1730ft) – this is still the world’s tallest building. It is owned by real estate and property management company TrizecHahn and is a working office building. The Skydeck has recently undergone a US$4-million renovation, turning it into a multimedia experience aimed at both adults and children, who are specifically catered for with the ‘Knee High’ attractions and exhibits. After being on top of the Sears Tower
Great place to be and you can say you were on top of the world.

The 2nd City - there's a reason they call us that...not as big and overwhelming as New York, not as sprawling and intimidating as L.A. Chicago is a great city, where you can get everything you can in the other two, but it's more accessible. You can't visit Chicago without taking in a Cubs game, visiting the lake front, shopping on the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Ave.), eating at the Cheesecake Factory in the John Hancock building, and catching the view from the Sears Tower. Chicago has a beautiful skyline. Whenever I'm away and am driving or flying home, the site of the Chicago skyline always lets me know when I'm almost home.
Italian Sandwhich
by machomikemd
Chicago is really a foodie paradise and they have many native food concoctions than the new yorkers hehehe and one of this really good native invention is the Italian Beef which I watched from the Discovery Travel Channel so thanks a lot Adam Richman for the info hence I must try this delight before leaving chicago right! Italian beef is a sandwich of thin slices of seasoned roast beef, dripping with meat juices, on a dense, long Italian-style roll, believed to have originated in Chicago, where its history dates back at least to the 1930s. The bread itself is often dipped (or double-dipped) into the juices the meat is cooked in, and the sandwich is typically topped off with Chicago-style giardiniera (called "hot") or sauteed, green Italian sweet peppers (called "sweet"). italian beef sandwhiches are a meat lovers wet dream hehehe and a sandwhich costs $ 6 an order and is stuffed with lots of sirloin meat goodness and is available everywhere even in hot dog stands in chicago! Italian beef is made using cuts of beef from the sirloin butt or the top/bottom round wet-roasted in broth with garlic, oregano and spices until medium rare or medium. The roast is then cooled, shaved using a deli slicer, and then served dripping wet after a reintroduction to its reheated beef broth; hence the need to use a chewy bread, as a softer bread would disintegrate. Typical bread used is long, Italian style loaves without seeds sliced from six to eight inches in length.
Public Art - The Bowman (S. Michigan at Congress)
by yooperprof
"The Bowman" is one of the most well-known public sculptures in Chicago. It stands at the Congress Parkway entrance to Grant Park, just off Michigan Avenue. The piece was designed by a Croatian sculptor, Ivan Metrovic, and crafted in Zagreb in the late 1920s before being shipped to the US.
You may notice that the Bowman is missing something. Namely, a bow. Well, maybe he's just practicing.
