No wonder Oprah puts her guests up here!

We had just gotten in from what ended up a long drive and a stay in a horrible hotel. The employees at the Omni were very polite and helpul, amoungst what appeared to be a very busy time. Yet, we were treated wonderfully by all and were able to check in 4 hours early. The room was very cozy, elegant and had a great view of the street and shops below. The bed is seperated from the sitting area, giving it it's own room, and it's own tv. It felt like an added bonus of an escape itself....I don't remember sleeping on a more comfortable bed, generous in comforting comforters and more than enough pillows. The pool is small, but clean and relaxing. The workout room and changing rooms were clean, modern, and a slightly impressive themselves. There is also a balcony/roof top area on the floor the pool is located providing a beautiful backdrop of the city. Room service was prompt, and polite. Oh, and I have no complaints on the food :-) The bar was quiet, with a good atmosphere, modern and classy, with a friendly bartender, and another nice view of the street below. It was a wonderful stay, and I am very critical and can be hard to please :-) The price was reasonable for the room, even less than I had imagined and the staff were incredible. They really made the stay worthwhile by going out of their way to please. The Omni was in no split second disappointing and gave us such a wonderful stay.

Unique Quality: Great walking distance for that end of Michigan Ave attractions. It took no time to get to Navy Pier or the other direction to tourist restaurants like Ed Debevics or Gino's East (great pizza).

Directions: In the heart of the Magnificiant Mile....around the corner from Garretts Popcorn.

    Location, Location, Location

Very service standards, either good or bad, just a perfect suite and nice restaurant in a PERFECT location right on Michigan Avenue.

Unique Quality: The second floor restaurant has huge floor to ceiling window walls that look out over the action on Michigan Avenue. The rooms are very nice, if not a little male clubby, but large by hotel standards.

You know, where oprahs guest stay

If Oprah puts her guest there, i figured it was good enough for me. Actually i didnt know her guest stayed there until after i was there.

The Omni was great. We booked it over, so we were pleasently suprised when we ended up there. All i knew is i wanted to stay on Michigan ave. and it put me right in the middle. It was sweet!

All rooms are a suite style. You have a livng room, a bedroom, and a big bathroom. Theres a phone in the bathroom so while your on the toilet u can call your friends and famiy and tell them about what u are doing. The hotel service was great, and the hotel has a great breakfast.

The hotel is located within walking distance to the Handcock building, the Navy Pier, the Chicago river, the "L" stations, the double decker bus stops, and a lot of great restaurants and shoping.

I highly recommend the Omni if u have a little extra cash to spend on accomodations and u want to be in a great location. For more info on the Omni, visit the following link to their website Omni Chicago

Unique Quality: We stayed on the south side of the tower with a view of the Sears tower and the rest of the Loop. I could stayed up all night looking at the view. the pool was indoor and pretty cool but it was small. i liked the atmosphere of the pool.

The Concierge was very knowledgeable about the city and went out of her way to find any information u needed.

Every room gets a USA today newspaper. This is my favorite paper so this is a plus for me

    * please feel free to rate this tip or any of my other tips thoughout my homepage. i am always looking to make improvements

Lots of space in the sky

This is an all-suite hotel. Oprah used to put her show's guests up here [she may still, I don't know]
To enter the hotel you take an elevator to the 5th floor. The suites are dark colors, clubby looking and comfortable.
We did have a problem with a sliding door that never got fixed after 3 calls. This is a great family setup, but we haven't stayed there again.

Glorious weather - so, so hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Accounting Professor

September 9 - 12, 2004 were glorious days; perfect weather. Unfortunately, the Omni is showing its age.and lack of attention to detail We have stayed here several times over the span of 12 years and have witnessed the slow decline.

Our commode was dirty, but was promptly cleaned upon our request. The bathroom showed sings of mildew. The room carpet was stained and the book shelves were dirty! However, our rate was excellent and the location is hard to beat. I did consider both the Rtiz and Four Seasons, but their rates were 250% higher! One receives what one pays for.

Above Average

The good: location is excellent. Right off Michigan Ave. near the heart of the City. Taxi ride to most places you might want to go less than $10. The room layout was clever. We booked a corner suite which was spacious enough to hang out in the room for a prolonged period of time without getting claustrophobic.
The not so good: traffic noise even with windows closed was significant. There must be a hospital nearby as there were a number of ambulances with sirens blaring at all hours of the day. The room was comfortable to be sure, but for almost $300 per night it seemed excessive, particularly when little things like no turndown service the first night, tea ordered through room service delivered with no cream, the turndown service the second night had no cart placed outside of the door so when we entered the room the attendant turning down the room scared the heck out of us.
And this has nothing to do with anything, but there is no grand lobby per se. you enter the hotel at street level and are confronted by the bell stand and a bank of elevators. Once inside you take the elevator to the 3rd floor and the lobby which by luxury hotel standards is much less than you would expect.
We would stay there again, but we would certainly only do so with a significantly lower room rate.

Need to renovate

Just stayed Dec 2 - 5, 2005. With 3 month advance reservation and arriving at noon, checked in to let them know we were there & stored luggage. When went back at 3 pm ( which was check-in ) was told couldn't get the corner suite w/ sofabed as I requested - because someone in the room had late 5 pm check-out. They gave us a room with promise of a roll-away - that never came. The room had no drawers anywhere. At 5 pm went back down & I requested a differant room - we got a corner suite w/ sofabed as requested. But; the cushions on the sofabed were so broken down, they were lower than the frame. The sink at the mini-bar sprayed the mirror when turned on. The door hinge on the mini-bar fridge was so loose ( door ready to fall off ). The carpet was overly worn & the wallpaper in bathroom coming off. On the maid service, they forgot us totally one day. The pillow was lumpy. The robes were rough. I think they're in real need of some attention to updating & maintenance. Great location is all I can say.

Wonderful room, great bargain

We stayed in Chicago for 3 nights in July 2004. We found the hotel staff to be friendly and efficient, the room (suite, really) luxurious and in good condition, and it was in a great location along the Mag Mile. We also got a GREAT rate with a free continental breakfast every morning, delivered to us by room service! You can also get extra perks by joining their loyalty program before booking your room.

Great location

by A TripAdvisor Member

We received a great rate to stay here with a complimentary bkft. This is a location that will allow you to walk in either direction on Michigan Ave. to enjoy shopping in multiple areas. The corner room was spacious and enjoyable to view the lights at nite. We would definitely stay here again.
