More about Farmers' Guest House

Home away from Home

Staying at Farmers Guest House was a delightful time. The owners along with the chef were attentive to each and every detail, along with being so friendly! They make your stay extra special with little touches of interest to be discussed throughout the home, along with a lovely garden in which to read, or spend time drifting in thought.

This is a great stay for Galena and also is within walking distance (very close) to the main street of shops.

Feel right at home at the farmers' guest house

by TripAdvisor Member hurlez6

My wife and I had occasion to stay at The Farmers' Guest House for our 14th anniversary in late June. Our experience was memorable from the minute we arrived. Kathie greeted us at the door and personally escorted us to our cottage just behind the main house. You will most definitely feel at home at The Farmers' Guest House. This nine room B&B offers excellent service in an atmosphere that feels like home. This property was originally built in the 1800’s and still feels like a great old farm house with all the modern conveniences. The INN KEEPERS really make it a great place to visit.

A Friendly and Welcoming Place

My sister and I stayed at Farmers' Guest House when we visited Galena, and we could not have picked a better place to stay. We used the Girlfriends' Getaway package that they offered, and it was a lot of fun. Everyone was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. We were in walking distance from downtown Galena, which was convenient. Their website was also really helpful in planning the trip. I definitely recommend a visit to the Farmers' Guest House!

Farmer's Guest House is the place to stay in Galena!

by TripAdvisor Member skgibson

Our weekend stay at the Farmer's Guest House was wonderful! We have been to Galena several times but had never stayed in a B & B. After our weekend, I decided i don't want to go to Galena unless I can stay at Farmer's Guest House. The guest room was great and the breakfast both days was so good. Jess and Kathie make you feel so welcome and they are full of information and advice about Galena. A great experience!

Enjoyable Stay

by TripAdvisor Member sdjanis

I took my daughters and daughter-in-law for a girls' weekend in Galena, Il. This was our first bed and breakfast experience, and found it to be most enjoyable. Shopping and other tourist excursions were all walkable distance from Farmers' Guest House. We found the place to be very clean, comfortable, and unique. Breakfast was wonderful and hospitality the best.

Wonderful experience!

Galena was suggested by a Chicago friend as a retreat from a lengthy visit to the Chicago area. Travelling alone I decided a B&B might be a good choice. This was my first stay at a B&B, and Farmers looked "just right" on the web. I stayed for 3 nights and I was not disappointed!

Jess was a gracious and friendly host (Kathie was away at the time) serving just the right mix of hospitality and local expert without feeling like he was "in the way," as I've heard from friends who have stayed at other B&B's around the country. The breakfasts were gourmet and wonderful. The wine and cheese in the early evening were a great way to unwind, chat with the other guests, and get ready for a relaxing dinner in town.

The location is ideal, giving easy walking access to everything in Galena, including the wonderful shops on Spring St (rte 20). The room I had (Samantha) was extremely comfortable with a wonderful private bathroom. The other rooms I saw while staying also looked well-appointed and inviting.

The common rooms are spacious and welcoming. Jess's collection in the living room of jazz cd's boggles the mind, while Kathie's clock collection in the dining room brings a smile to your face as you notice one you hadn't seen before, like the face-changing Lucy and Desi, or the Campbell Kid on the moving spoon of the Campbell soup clock. The backyard seating offers a respite from the hectic day while you listen to birds, frogs, and crickets.

I hope to return to Galena with friends and have already told them we'll be staying at the Farmers.

Farmers Guest House Met All Expectations

The Farmers Guest House was a wonderful place to stay in Galena! It is within a brief walking distance from the main street in downtown. The breakfast spread in the morning, including the hot dish, was a real treat and provided a great start to the day The serene backyard and hot tub were a relaxing addition to the house. Kathie was very helpful when it came to making recommendations for tours, restaurants, and shops. We took her suggestions and loved every place she pointed us to. We couldn't have asked for a better host. She was friendly and charming, but respected the privacy of guests at the same time and was never intrusive. I will definitely go back again when in the Galena area!

Anniversary weekend

by TripAdvisor Member TransplantChicago_IL

The Farmers' Guest House was lovely. My husband and I were looking for a weekend getaway from Chicago and this was perfect. The B & B is very well located, walking distance to the Galena shopping district. It is located on a highway, but it was surprisingly quiet. The room were very clean, comfortable and charming. Breakfast was yummy, the DVD and CD collection was wonderful and the hosts were very nice and willing to help. The only problem we ran into was that our room had a door to an adjoining room and that was very noisy. We could hear EVERY noise in the adjoining room. So, we needed to be very careful, as well as tolerant of the noise.

Best B & B ever!!!

This place was amazing! My mother and I stayed here for a mother daughter mini vacation. We absolutely loved it! The room was great as well as the breakfast! Our favorite part of the B& B was our innkeeper Kathie, she was amazing and really made us feel welcome! We hope to come back next year (or sooner)!
