Brian Plawer Campground: Inviting Campground
This is the main campground of Kickapoo State Park. With close to 200 sites, it can accommodate a good number of visitors to the park. There are several sectors, including tent, campers, and RV with electrical hook up. I stayed in the tent section, and found it to be very comfortable. Each site has a picnic bench and fire pit w/ barbecue attachment. There is open space to set up tent(s) for your company and throw a frisbee, kick a ball, relax when not out in the park.
The bathrooms are primitive, but up at the entrance to the campground there is a bathroom with sinks and showers. There is no cost for these amenities.
There is a strict no alcohol policy in the campground, which helps keep out party-goers and noise. In general, the campground, like the park itself, is very friendly to families and those wanting a respite from urban life. As of right now, the campground is first-come, first-serve. They are not taking reservations. So be warned for busy holiday weekends there might be a need to get there early.
