Walking route between Indianapolis and Bloomington

by ecochallengeteam2

I'm involved in a private eco-challenge at my university. I'm interested in finding the most direct walking route from Bloomington, Indiana to Indianapolis. Does anyone have any clue?

You do know it's about 55 miles between Indy and Bloomington, right? State Road 37 is the most direct route between the two.

Yea, we're all well aware of how insanely hard it will be to walk from B-town to Indy, but we're committed. So no ideas as to a more direct walking route besides 37? Because were planning on that otherwise.

That is the most direct route without going up and over or something and adding more distance to it.

I would say do that 37 route, its the quickest, straightest and flatest.

I know first hand that people have done this route before as I have witnessed a number of times the Free Tibet and Tibetan culture centre in Bloomington have done the exact route.

i want to say it took 3 days maybe but I'm not sure.

I guess you've found your answer, but may I ask why? Walking from Indy to Bloomington is going to be so god-awful boring. If you are looking for a multiday backpacking trip, there are far better places to go, such as Knobstone Trail (southern IN).

If you are looking instead for a 55 mile walk (non-backpacking), there are still better places to go. Why do you have your heart set on this route?

Aye, nevermind. I didn't realize the topic was 2 years old!

Getting My Money's Worth In Bloomington

"The College Town of my Two Oldest Sons"

Between 1997 and 2007 we spent many days and nights in Bloomington as my 2 oldest sons both attended school here. Unfortunately I wasn't a member of VT then to record all the images and thoughts, but as I go through some old pictures and memories I will share with all the VTers and guest out there my impressions of Bloomington.

I recently spent a few days on a business trip to the area, so I thought I would start with at least a home page and a restaurant review.

The Cultural Center of the Universe

You didn't know Bloomington is the Cultural Center of the Universe?

Well then you need to watch this video

The Little 500 is held each year in April. In this picture the writer of Breaking Away Steve Tesich is watching (in Black T-shirt). This Academy award winning movie helped bring national fame to the bike race.

If you still don't think Bloomington is the Cultural Center of the Universe then just have a a look at this
