Story Inn and Restaurant: B&B in the backwoods
Located in Story, Indiana, about an hours drive south of Nashville and Brown County State Park. Actually, it's the southern neighbor of the state park. There is nobody else around. Food is at the retaurant and the woods and back roads are your playgroudn.

Abe Martin Inn: State Park Lodge
One of the first lodges built in a state park, it shows evidence of nearly a half dozen additions. There are the lodge rooms, motel rooms, and cabins. The cabins, like many old cabins show the signs of ages, but a roomy and well suited for families and kids.

Abe Martin Lodge: Cozy and Comfortable
We spent two very enjoyable nights and three days at the Abe Martin Lodge. It was built of native hand-hewn stone and oak timbers in 1932 by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) and clearly shows the style of such depression era structures.
In the Main Lodge are two spacious and rustic lobbies, each with a fireplace. An inviting dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with great food at good prices. There are 30 guest rooms in the Main Lodge, and 54 in a newer addition - which is where we stayed. Our accommodation was a simple, basic hotel room - clean and comfortable.
Being there in winter, we especially enjoyed the crackling fireplaces in the lobbies, and the hearty meals in the dining room. There is also a gift shop just off the lobby.

Brown County State Park Campground
This campground offers camping in an open field area as well as camping back in the woods. We like camping in the Taylor Ridge section of the campground (see map) on Black Oak Road because it is a little bit more secluded and you are near a modern bathroom with showers. There are a lot more camping sites than shown here. The actual campground map fills two pages. Remember to bring wood and water or at least a container for water. There is water available at the bathroom area but I can't remember if it is drinkable or not. You can buy distilled water and other supplies at the campground store but like all stores like that it is more expensive but cheaper than driving to Nashville to get that one forgotten item.
