Evansville
Although I do not expect people will be packing their bags and heading to Evansville any time soon, here are a few notes on the town I've spent most of my life in. It sits on the southern-most tip of Indiana and borders both Kentucky and Illinois. Population is 121,582. Primarily this area was settled by German farmers and some of the German culture is still present in festivals and local restaurants. However, culturally it lacks diversity in part because 85% of the population is white. The average income is $31,963 and the average home runs about $100,000. My last apartment was a nice one bedroom at $450 a month. The weather presents all four seasons and winters and summers can be extreme. The 90 degree summer days and ice storms that coat everything in an inch of ice can be unpleasant to say the least. Evansville was, however a great place to grow up and my family still resides there.
