A Buffet with a View
by Stephen-KarenConn about Le Bristo
There are two restaurants, a bar and an ice cream parlor in the French Lick Springs Hotel. We did not try Jacks Steakhouse which is only open on weekend evenings. Our choice for dinner was Le Bristo, just off the Grand Lobby. We liked the fact that there were lots of windows overlooking the grounds and domed pool The prices were reasonable.. The offerings on the buffet were good but not quite so fine as we would have expected in such an elegant hotel.
West Baden Springs Hotel
by Stephen-KarenConn
Built in 1902, the same year as the rival French Lick Springs Hotel a short distance away, West Baden Springs Hotel is a National Historic Landmark. The soaring atrium was for sixty years the largest of its kind in the world, and it still takes your breath away. The hotel was closed for many years and in a serious state of decay. Now, after more than $30 million in renovations it is still far from being completed. However several opportunities are available for the those who want to see this magnificent and unique treasure. We took the tour on a Sunday afternoon and found it an experience not to be missed. Check the website below for tour times.
