This hotel is amazing. It is in the heart of downtown, close to everything. The service, rooms, food, decor etc. are what you would expect from a 4-5star hotel.
I have stayed at the Canterbury twice. It is a historic hotel right in the downtown area (it is attached to the shopping Mall anchored by Nordstroms). The last time I stayed here was during the Indy 500 in 2005 and celebrities such as David Letterman were also guests. Kate Hudson was also staying there and the manager told me her maid was caught smoking pot in the stairwell and her dog peed on the carpet. Now that's glamour for you.
Now the stars stay at the new Conrad a few blocks away.
The rooms are smallish and feature unique antiques. There are only a handful of suites at the hotel. I have toured the Presential Suite - which has 2 floors- and reportedly where Michael Jackson has stayed. The suites are small- like the rooms.
European Style Hotel -- I've eaten here and seen the rooms but never spent the night (hey, it is only one hour from my home and this is the most expensive hotel in town!) This is first class
