Hoosiers are very, very friendly

In April I arrived at Indianapolis Airport which is far away and didnt have car.
The Buses had stopped running at 11pm in Indianapolis to the airport and this very nice couple asked if something was wrong and I told them I was trying to get to a motel that was out the way, they called a cab and had the cab detour to my motel and didnt ask for a penny.
In the pittiful state I live in until August(Ohio) I have seen people with major medical emergencies collapsed on the street being ignored for a half hour...Also, They had a big line at the mall at this resturant and because of the wait they gave everybody a double sandwich for the inconvience The people are just so friendly
The Athenaeum

Jill and I kept hearing about and seeing in print the term Athenaeum. We had no idea what it was so we went looking. We finally found it and discovered that it is a brooding large structure that was designed by Bernard Vonnegut (grandfather of noted author and Indianapolis native, Kurt Vonnegut). The Athenaeum was originally called Das Deutsche Haus and was once the center of the city's German life.
It was begun in 1893 and completed in 1898; it is a grand example of German Renaissance Revival architecture. The building has been undergoing restoration work since 1991.
Today, it houses the Rathskeller (the city's oldest restaurant), a branch of the YMCA (the city's oldest functioning gymnasium), a beer garden with a stylish band shell, and the American Cabaret Theatre.
The Athenaeum is mentioned in several of Kurt Vonnegut works and is the setting for a scne in the movie, Going All the Way.
You are able to schedule a tour, but you may also wish to "poke around" on your own after dinner or before a show.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 9-5
Friday 9-4
(Of course, the different establishments within the building have varying schedules.)

It isn't a fancy place, but if you like real mexican food at very reasonable prices then El Camino Real is the perfect place.
Good quality good with great prices. I love fajatas, but most things are really good at this location. The shrimp is also great in every way I've had it.
Monument Candelabra

The Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument is surrounded by 4 candelabra that stand 40 ft. tall. There are also 4 smaller candelabra around the base, each with 3 bison head that spit water into a basin. They are made of bronze and were cast in Berlin, Germany by Bruno Schmitz.
In this detail photo, you can see a bear holding up the base of one of the candelabra with another one in the background (you can see other candelabra in some of my other pictures of the monument).
