time change

by runaway2anywhere

it would be helpful to let people know that it is not all of indiana that does not change time. nw by chicago does indeed change with the rest of the world

Also southwest by Evansville and southeast by Louisville follow daylight savings time as well.

RE: time change--Advice is Out-of-Date

by crimcrop

The advice about the time change is now obsolete because the law has changed in Indiana.

The majority of Indiana used to be on Eastern Standard Time all year long (with a few counties on Central Time), and the State did not go on Daylight Savings Time during the year. However, Indiana changed its law in 2005 so that it will now recognize Daylight Savings Time starting April 1, 2006. Indianapolis and most of the state's 92 counties are on Eastern Time (and will recognize Daylight Savings Time). About 18 counties, near the border with Illinois and Kentucky are on Central Time (and will recognize Daylight Savings Time).

Downtown Indianapolis and the Canel Walk simply cannot be missed. I used to live in a tiny little apartment in downtown Indianapolis. Every night, I used to fall asleep under the lights of th Scottish Right Cathedral.

There are a surprisingly large number of Asian Indian restaurants appearing in Indianapolis. My favorite is called 'Indian Palace'. A lunch buffet is offered 7 days a week. Dinners are reasonably priced.
A must stop at is the Mug and Bun. A fifties style drive up and park restaurant. Fried foods, pork tenderloin, fries, onion rings, hamburgers etc. Not one that I frequent a lot, but for nostalgic feelings I do stop by periodically. A lot more hoosiers frequent this restaurant regularly.
The authentic asian indian music. The kind treatment received. at India Palace
The nostalgic feeling at the Mug and Bun Favorite food at the India Palace is the tomatoe and cream based sauce with chicken. Spices make this a delicous entre, or buffet item. The chile peppers available add to the spice. I must eat between 10 and 15 chili peppers, while dinning here.
Definitely the pork tenderloin at the Mug and Bun

The Canal

I couldn't believe how nice the Downtown Canal area was the last time I was down there! The city has put a lot of money and effort into fixing up the canal that runs through the center of the city. It's absolutely beautiful. And the new State Museum is right on the canal. There's even paddle boat rental, though I'd assume they're not available in winter, when the water's frozen over.

The 4th-Largest City Owned Park

by djramey

Eagle Creek Park is the 4th largest city owned park in the United States and this vast park area does not let one down when visiting. The Lilly family of Indianapolis (See: Lilly pharmaceuticals such as prozac) helped fund and purchase this land to the Northwest of Indianapolis. The area makes up 3,100 acres of park and 1,300 of water and was given to Purdue University of West Lafayette in the 1950's. The University unable to keep the land appropriately sold it to the City of Indianapolis.

The park is open year-round from dawn to dusk much like Central Park in New York City. It includes the self named Eagle Creek Reservoir and offers canoeing and kayaking. Out of the water the park has many trails and paths which you can tramp and walk as many families do. A lot of wildlife run free like deer and rabbits that walkers can also so. A semi-new nature center has a huge arboretum with trails and a 600 year old tree log.

My time in the Eagle Creek were well spent and I would suggest you to visit if you're in the city. Times there can be fun, romantic, or just completely light hearted. Visit with your family, your mate, or your significant other!

The Place
