Radio Stations
by staindesign
I hate going to new places and not knowing what the radio stations are in the city. We have 3 main stations; 3 that I mainly listen to. The first one is RadioNow 93.1fm, they have the "morning mess". They play top 40 hits and an interesting thing is that the studio is located downtown on the circle. The Second is Z99.5, and they play everything 80's, 90's, & today. The morning show is "Smiley Morning Show". And Last but not least is Q95 or 94.7, they play rock and classic rock. The morning show is Bob & Tom, which most people know because they are syndicated through out the country.
A Showcase For American Architecture
by deecat
Columbus is known all over the architectural world and is ranked 4th in the nation in architectural achievement right after New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
It's known as the "Athens of the Prairie" because it's the only place in the world where I did actually "look at an Eliel Saarinen church through a Henry Moore arch as I was standing in front of an I.M. Pei library"! (took photo to prove it)
Thank goodness for J. Irwin Miller, the president of the Cummins Engine Company (USA's leading maker of diesel engines) because he is the one who hired great architects from all over the world to design the buildings in Columbus.
It was The Christian Church (1942) by Eliel Saarinen (through the arch in the photo) that started the town's fine architectual reputation.
The Large Arch by Henry Moore looks magnificent in front of the town's Cleo Rogers Memorial Library by I.M. Pei. I had reason to go into this special building (to ask for directions), and I could see why Pei is so famous.
Try taking this same photo if you ever have the opportunity to visit Columbus, Indiana. It was a great challenge.
Famous Cheeseburgers Off the Highway
by staindesign about Cheeseburger in Paradise
This place is sort of unique, it is a chain of restaurants which were concepted my Jimmy Buffet's song "Cheeseburger in Paradise"; the style of the food is american, creole, and caribbean. Over all i think the place is decorated in a cheesy manor, the staff wears tropical outfits, there are signs of pinacoladas everywhere and fake fish on the walls. The outside of the building looks big, but inside it is small and the smoking section leeks over into the non-smoking. They have a stage area, I went for lunch so obviously there wasn't a show. The drinks menu is huge, pages and pages of different drinks you could get. One thing I thought is cute and gimmicky is they make faces out of the fruit that they put on your drinks, they top each one off with little plastic sunglasses. I had the Bohemian barbeque pork sandwich, with pickles and purple onions. The bread was nice and toasted and the pork was peppery, but it was in need of extra sauce, I'm a girl that likes a wet BBQ sandwich. I had the choice of 5 sides, I went with the sweet potato chips. These chips are great, sweet and salty at the same time. They were a little greasy, if they were dried off better they would have been perfect!

Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art
Great museum - Western and Native American Art - permanent and changing exhibits. I was able to see the Ansel Adams Photography Exhibit which was wonderful. The bronze sculpture of white tail deer outside of the museum is beautiful.
State House Grounds - Civil War Reliefs
by grkboiler
On each side of the Morton statue at the east entrance of the State House are bronze reliefs depicting Civil War scenes.
To the right of the statue (pictured) is a scene of veterans returning home to Indiana. To the left is a scene commemorating the efforts of women during the war.
