Packing List...for the Big City
by Cabana_Boy
Cold in the winter, hot in the summer...so dress accordingly Growing up in the country around Indianapolis, we had cow pastures and corn fields all around us. So, when I go to the big city, I like to take my cow prod and an ear of corn with me...
Average Joe's Sports Pub
by descolada99 about Average Joe's Sports Pub
FULL, and I mean FULL of sports memorabilia. It is co-owned by the owner of Treadway Racing (an Indy racing team), so there is a bunch of that stuff (wheels, parts of cars, tons of autographed). There is also alot of NBA, NFL, Indianapolis Ice (local hockey team), and high school sports memorabilia covering the walls, ceilings, and even the surface of the bar.
It also has 6 pool tables that are free until 9pm every night, and free all night on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The best day to go is Thursdays, which is also $2 import night. Nothing beats #2 Guinness draught and free pool. I recommend the nachos and the tenderloin sandwich to eat. None.
Claddagh Irish Pub
by gkitzmil about Claddagh Irish Pub
A REAL Irish pub run by a guy who left Ireland when I still ate beef I loved : Shepherds Pie --(An Irish meal of ground beef, carrots, peas and onions simmered in traditional gravy, topped with fresh whipped garlic potatoes).
Now I'd try one of these: Irish Style Smoked Salmon
Thinly sliced smoked Salmon, served with brown bread, cream cheese, diced onions, chopped egg and capers OR
Spinach and Artichoke Dip
A blend of fresh baby spinach, artichoke hearts, Asiago, Monterey Jack and Parmesan cheese heated and served with toasted sourdough bread. --
Fried Brie with Fresh Berry Compote
A wheel of Brie cheese, breaded and fried, served with Irish soda bread and our fresh berry sauce. --
Steamed Black Mussels
A pound of black mussels simmered in Harp Lager, garlic and herbs, finish with cream.
Fountain Square, 1 of 6 cultural districts
by staindesign
Currently Aug. 2006, this is how fountain square looks like. Next year it will be under construction and it will be revitalized. It is going to be really beautiful. Green 3, the company I work for is designing the project. This is definitely a place that you won't want to miss after the construction. Besides the beautification, it really needs to be done because when it rains here, the streets turn into river rapids. This pioneer family fountain will be moved over to a pedistrian area of the square and this big fountain will be replaced with its original fountain of Lady Spray.
