A town of Contrasts

by Toughluck

"The old town along the River"

"The new town up on the hill"

Madison is nestled into the Valley along the Ohio River. But don't be fooled by this quaint, charming, little town. It has leaped up the bluffs and is now spreading across the uplands. There are modern shops and chain restaurants along Indiana 62. The original movie theater 'downtown' is now in competition with a multi-plex up on the hill. Don't miss either part of town.

To the west is Clifty Falls State Park. Like town there is both an up and a down. Only here, you start up and walk down. There are no roads through the river valley, so you'll have to walk.

If you want to drive through a valley, go east along the Ohio. The road twist and turns with the river. You'll find vistas across the valley, then find your self among fields and trees. Several small towns will be found and you may find a place for a meal that makes the day complete.
