Looking for a place to put up those summer visitors?
Or jsut need a "little vacation"
The 6 stil seems to be the best bet.
Since the demise of the infamous "Heritage Inn" (former Travelodge down the road.) The Motel 6 about is the only "reasonably priced" "Clean" good old No Tell Motel left in South Bend on the 933 strip. The price varies on a day to day baisis, and now is usually running around $35-38 if booked on line when ND isnt in season.

Thats a very GOOD price for SB.
Well can't get a click 6 discount for some reason this Summer, perhaps its becasue of "the Travel season but hey ,$37.99 USD*NOT including taxes of: 13.00% upon check-in (subject to change) its the best game in town unless ya really want to gamble on finding a bargain.
I usaully reccommend a drive around if they are out of rooms, Knights Inn and the new "Budget" American Value motel next to King Gyro's sometimes can match the price.
Just pelase, remember that Ho JO's might have a good looking price up.. BUT BEWARE
Not a bad place, the rooms are sort of small,( but clean) not much in the way of amentites other then a pool out by the HiWay in season.
NOT the best pool as far as heat goes.. and the view of 933 is less than enchanting ( sure not as semi-private as the pool at Knights Inn ) but its wet..
Nice concrete walls between the rooms sort of cuts down on the noise especially if you make sure to book a room in the back on the second level. Overall, not a bad place to hang out and spend a evening with friends, (as long as no more then 1-2 due to the small room size)
and prettyy quiet for sleeping.
Unfortunately to get drinks or food, you have to hike down and somewhat across 933. as the "restaurant" in the parking lot never came back after the Pancake house moved and is now a KABOOM fireworks store (Hmm its been there a while but I keep thinking that could lead to some trouble) If you are brave, you can hike across the Street to see the site of the "Heritage Inn" and grab a beer at "J.Willy's"
My only major complaint about this place is " NO " check in time.. Atfirst this sounds sort of good, but in reality it means that you MIGHT NOT get into a room till 6pm.. Very slow housekeeping. Sort of a bummer if you want to get set up early and get out on the town.
Other down side is that (in season) they tend to like to chase ya out of the pool very earlier in the evening then I prefer.
If booking here INSIST on a guarrenteed check in time. IF they hemhaw then ask to call their coporate 1-800 MOtel 6 line and then they usually suddenly come up with an available room for you.
On the UP SIDE.. You can get iWIFI though it might cost you an additional fee ( typically $2.99 aday.) There are usually some fairly friendly "party types" hanging out there and if not pretty quiet, either way.. although it doesnt have the "fun atmosphere of the old Heritage Inn, and not quite as "atmospheric" as Knight's Inn

I recently had a visiting out of town family members, so I figured Id see exactly what is the best deal on the Dixieway Strip in Roseland.
I stopped in at the Motel 6 after noticing the $35.99 rate and asked to see a room. Iwas treated with courtesy and was given a room key card to check it out. The room, though small, was clean and well stocked with the necessasy items. The TV was realitively new and included all the usuals.
I was faily impressed by the new corner shower unit and the overall cleanliness of the room. After returning home I discovered that by booking on line at http://www.motel6.com/ there was an internet rate of only $32.39. So I booked a room for our visitor.
Other than the strange check in time, 3-4pm.. The stay went well. I had put in a request for a room in the rear 2nd floor , and the request was cheerfully granted.
I stopped in to check the room taht evening after our visitor had checked in to pick them up, and it was as clean and propperly appointed as the room I had been shown.
I dont know what else one could ask for for $32.39. True the rooms are small, and the fomer Denny's in the parking lot is vacant (since Dennys moved down the street several years ago) But outher than the minor inconvenience of our visitor having to drive a block or two for breakfast, I heard no complaints at all. I would highly reccomend this hotel to any budget minded single or couple traveling to the South Bend area. In contrast the Heritage Inn, just across the street and down a little, this motel is a very nice property, and the absolute lowest standard rate in South Bend. As with any "budget motel" If one encounters a problem, or finds a room unsatisfactory, one should immeadiately bring it to the attention of the staff. And if necessary request another room.
