Notre Dame football
by meteorologist1
The University of Notre Dame has an excellent football team. The Fighting Irish has won a lot of recognition over the past several years. If you are a football fan, be sure to reserve your tickets early. Also, parking on football days can be very difficult to find. Be sure to arrive early.

Studebaker National Museum
by sambarnett
South Bend has had many industries since its founding in the early 19th century but nothing says South Bend like Studebaker.
From pioneer and farmer's wagon to the high powered automotive age, for 114 years (1852 to 1966) Studebaker was a major player in the transportation business. The post WWII years brought financial difficulties. Unable to compete with Detroit's Big Three, Studebaker's fortunes dwindled. Too bad, these were some damn fine cars! And you'll see plenty of them here, along with old Conestoga Wagons and some Presidential carriages. This place is definitely worth a visit.
The building, constructed in 1919, originally contained offices and a company run dealership. The museum opened in 1983.

"The Notre Dame Golf Course"
OK, I'm not a golfer but the ND golf course looks really nice to me!
"The Welcome Center"
Notre Dame has built a beautiful new Welcome Center on campus. It is a good spot to start your tour.
"The Bookstore"
Any item you could possibly want emblazoned with "Notre Dame" can be bought here, including a massive selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts and caps.
This may be the most elegant college bookstore in the country. You have to remind yourself you are in a bookstore and not a country club.
Oh that smell, can't you smell that Dyngus smell
by Phlebas2
"Jumping Jack Flash.. Its a gas gas gas"
Dyngus 2007 was sort of a bust.. I coundn't find much in the way of free cabbage, eggs, and sausage... just the usual politics.. Guess that things aint like thy used to be..
So while out on the town looking for a little Dyngus cheer, and no place to smoke, not much free to eat.. I was trying to get to WISEGUYS to smoke and have a beer and I couldn't help but notice that SB has a case of GAS..
I know there are a lot of things in SB that don't smell quite right, (politics, taxes, etc )
Gone it appears is the smell of sausager cabbage and cigars I always associated with Dyngus Day politics, but a new smell is gaining popularity.. NON SMOKING
NOw I know that SB is running short on frankilin's to light cigars but the lack of effort shown to the infrastructure is starting to really stink bad.
Sample Street is the latest to get a little gaseous.
Now I know that around here we have a habit of passing a little gas, "ole Ethyl" out there on the SW side still can pass a pretty good reminder of Drewry's, but .. Im getting a little tired of the other sort of gas leaks everytime I roam around town. Thank god they passed the "smoking ban" huh?
Perhaps the gas leaks are just a way to help enforce it?
( I actually hardly go out in SB anymore unless I know that a establishemnt CAN allow smoking, heck what goes better with a beer , and a little gas than some bad politics and some smoke.. but busting into flames.. nah)
BUT TRANSPO BUSES smoke?? cant smoke on em, but hey smoke.. after a lot of Dyngus debate and curiousity.. We decided to follow up on how Transpo can smoke and still be non smoking.. Why isnt the health department concerned about smoking buses and gas leaks?? We were thinking this is like getting to be a "bad thing" , these "gas problems" Why dont we pass a "gas leak ban? or a smoking Transpo ban. Rather than just punishing the human smokers.. and restaurant owners.. and employees. SO hmm I think.. I know what I smell.. I SMELL POLITICS..
After all that smoke and gas .. next thing you know you end up at the TRANSPO station DTSB, trying do help curb pollution by parking and taking public TRANSPOtation.. but somehow after standing there sniffing diesel fumes, and other sorts of bus station smoke, we are desperately trying figure out if we can to get to Mishawaka to get away from the fumes and smoke.. well next thing ya know we end up in Clay township.. Hmmm. maybe its nerve gas they are releasing? A secret gas that makes you want to ESCAPE DTSB.. Why else would I go to Clay Twp or even more frightening.. DAZE INN North?
I see a pattern here..
