A pastoral community

Ames, IA is a town right out of a movie. Its quaint streets and pastoral fields are reminiscent of past times. The population is about 50,000 with the students from Iowa State contributing 25,000. So, the summer is very quiet around here.

When first moving to Iowa, I was unsure about how conservative the area would be. I was happily surprised that the influence of the university on the town makes the place more diversified than the rest of Iowa. I have friends from the Philipinnes and our new neighbors are from India.
