Poter's Mill Bed & Breakfast: Listed on National Register of Historic Places

Potter's Mill was a 1845 Flour Mill. Today it is a combination of a Restaurant and a Bed and Breakfast Inn.

It's Iowa's oldest gristmill and contains artifacts from the Mill's flour-producing days. It was in 1986 [after 126 years of production] that the machinery was halted, and the mill was closed.

In 1980, Daryll and Carolyn Eggers purchased the building at auction, did reconstruction on the creekside foundation and had local craftsmen preserve much of the original structure and interior. They operated a restaurant at the mill until the 1990's. Then they used it as a 2nd floor restaurant and as a Bed & Breakfast on the 3rd and 4th Floors.

In 2006, Billie Jo Rolin-Pulley and son Billy took over operations.

There are four Guest Rooms at Potter's Mill Bed and Breakfast:
1. Mill Creek Suite [rustic country look with king size bed and double whirlpool bath.

2. Captain Potter's Suite with king size 4-post bed and view of Mill Creek. It, too, has a double whirlpool bath.

3. Eagle's Nest is a smaller room but with a huge view of Big Mill Creek and it's limestone ledges. It has a private sitting are, queen sized bed, private bath and shower.

4. Carolyn's Retreat is a suite with a queen sized bed and a separate room with 2 twin-sized beds.
It has a private bath with shower. It also has a side room with a tent for kids! A view of downstream to the Mississippi.

They also have a lounge called "The Gathering Place" on the 3rd floor with a library, board games, refreshments, and scrpbooks of the Mill's restoration process.

You either have a view of Bellevue State Park or Big Mill Creek. Tooms have private baths, full breakfast, TV, and air conditioning.
