As I was driving around on Labor Day, I found the World War II memorial behind the capitol building. The memorial itself is quite amazing, with a timeline on events in the concrete on the ground, the eternal flame, and this memorial about Pearl Harbor. See the travelogue for more pics!
Enough food for a farmer. Gift shop in the lobby of the resaurant, which has everything a tourist will ever want from Iowa. Double-Cut Iowa Pork Chop. It's a pork chop as big as your head! I hear the steaks are great too.
I've lived in Des Moines since early 1999. Although I grew up here as a child, I moved away as most Iowa teens are want to do.
Returning as an adult gives you a new perspective on this city.
There is tons to do and see throughout the town.
