Volga German Haus
by atufft
Next to the authentic and old Presbyterian church is a deceptively old appearing Volga German Haus. This and the variety of other out buildings in this pioneer field museum, are replicas of the structures built by the Volga German immigrants. Included among the images here is a unidentified stone structure and staircase from the area that is clearly of early vintage. Behind the Presbyterian church are two tombstones of Volga-German immigrants. I was there on a Sunday when the haus and museum were closed, unfortunately.

"Time in Hays"
I've spent time in and out of Hays all my life, having grown up a mere 15 minutes away. Hays was always where we did all of the grocery shopping and everything.
"Things to Do"
People often say that there is nothing to do in Hays (or any other smaller size town), but I think that they just are not looking hard enough. Hays has quite a bit of culture and art, considering it's in the middle of the high plains.
"One of the Best Things ..."
If you are looking for a fairly affordable college education, with quality to boot - Fort Hays State University is a nice value. You get instructors who care about you and know you by name, and you pay a small amount of tuition compared to other four year universities in Kansas.
