For some thing a little different try staying at Hedrick's Exotic Animal Farm Bed and Breakfast.
It costs more than most other hotels in the area but where else do you get to feed a giraffe?
It is hard to properly describe. You sleep in the top floor of a kind of a barn. (No, it does not smell bad.) Once inside of your room it is nicely furnished and quite charming. We stayed in the camel room. Exotic animals like camels and zebras live right beneath you. As part of your stay you will have a chance to meet the animals up close.
We stayed at Hedrick's Bed and Breakfast in Nickerson, KS. When we arrived the first thing that we saw were giraffes and camels smiling at us from behind the bed and breakfast. We stayed in the zebra suite, it was so beautiful. The room has two queen size beds and a adjoining room with bunkbeds. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are adorned with exotic tapestries and huge wall murals. Each of the rooms is decorated like an animal on the farm, kangaroo, camel, giraffe, llama, etc. One room even has a hot tub. The common area upstairs overlooks the kangaroos, and the balcony outside overlooks the whole place. It was clean, professional, and memorable. We will be back!
In the morning we were served a fantastic breakfast complete with a panoramic view of the giraffes. After breakfast we went on our tour of the farm. We got to meet kangaroos face to face, they ate right out of our hands. We also saw zebras, bison, ostriches, and the kids favorite, a baby goat that followed them around. The highlight for me was "Hugo" the giraffe. He came down and ate a carrot out of my mouth. It was so much fun!
