These great signs are on street corners down town. The signs tell you the about the history and architecture of the buildings on each block. As you walk down town direct your gaze upward. Look above the glass shop windows full of posters and sale items. Look at the upper floors of the buildings and the care that went in to creating them. Beautiful old buildings with stone work on them are a rare thing now that we build so much out of steel and glass in my country.

Another picture inside my favorite place, the Milford Nature Center. The picture is of the paintings that were used to create special stamps. Hunters and conservationists purchased the stamps to help the state raise money to protect waterfowl and other wildlife.
The history of fighting on the plains started here
"A military town"
The city is anchored next to the fort; Fort Riley. The town is strip is nice, but also a place for military to shop and live. That is not a problem, but the heritage mostly is on the fort, where a museum is housed. The town has some preserved old structures, but the strip is getting more commercialized all the time.
"The fort is one of our historical monuments"
The famed 7th Cavalry was stationed here, and Custer was part of that. Since the 1st Division, and modern day cavalry rule the fort. I was here with the 9th Division, now disbanded, but active during the Vietnam era.
"Wind YOu Way Through It"
The town is stretched from old time stores in the middle of the old part, and now the newer commercial spreads out the perimeters.
