Any advice on where to stay if I'm planning on road tripping out to catch a royals game? I'm looking for a place that is relatively inexpensive (but clean and safe) but has easy access to the ballpark, restaurants, bars, etc. Thanks!

This hotel is less than a mile away from Kauffman Stadium. It is an excellent establishment with friendly staff, great service, & tremendously clean & safe. Have fun!!! GO RED SOX!!!
You must visit the Plaza Area for its restaurants and shopping. You must also visit the Wesport Area for its restaurants, cafés and clubs. There is a beautiful Train Station as well. Overall a very nice Midwestern Big City. This Picture is the same as the night view from my hotel room. However, it is the daytime view on March 11, 2002.
We go to Kansas City several times a year. We've driven there for the Renaissance festival, to shop, to eat, to go to an antique toy show, to visit a Japanese Festival at UMKC, to see the travelling Smithsonian Institute exhibit, and just to have fun. I'll be making more trips to Kansas City so this page will be under reconstruction from time to time.
Union Station on Main Street that is where Science City is located for kids. It is awesome. Also go see Kansas Regional Ballet perform Sleeping Beauty in December 16&17 at JCCC corner of College and Quivera.
This is one of the wooded paths at the Overland Park Arboretum. You can also take a nature walk at Ernie Miller Nature Center. The Prairie Center is my favorite place for a nature hike. Prairie Center is located on 300 acres at 26325 W. 135th Street in Olathe. It has wooded areas, praire areas, and small lakes. Best time to see it is when prairie wild flowers are in bloom. Enjoy the nature and see some of the birds I love.
We went to a Civil War reenactment in a park in Bonner Springs. There was a large Civil War battle faught at Westport. It was fun to watch the men in uniform march around firing guns, see the cannons belch smoke, hear the racing hooves of cavalry horses. Events like this are held periodically in various parts of Kansas.
