City Wide Celebration: The Spinach Festival
Annual three-day event, held in early to mid-September, celebrates Lenexa's heritage. As Mentioned on my Lenexa home page, the area was home to numerous truck farmers in the early 1900s, with spinach being the number one cash crop.
There are usually several events taking place in the Kansas City metro area at the same weekend, but I think this is the best of its type. It is held in the Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park at 87th and Lackman Road, but parking is difficult there. I prefer to park at the city hall parking lot (just west of Quivira Road and I-35 on 87th Street), and ride the free shuttle.
