For me the Scottish Festival...

For me the Scottish Festival and Maxwell Game Refuge are the two best things in McPherson. There are plenty of things to see here if you take the time. There is a model railroad layout, antique auto restoration, opera house, and interesting stores. Many of those places require tours to be booked in advance. Can find out about making a tour appointment at the web site for McPherson. To enjoy most trips better it does not hurt to do some research. To research McPherson go to www.mcphersonks.org .
This 1920's mansion was...

This 1920's mansion was donated to the city as a museum. There is quite a collection of things inside from fossils to antiques. It is only a few blocks from the park where the Scottish Festival is held at 1130 E. Euclid. My wife and I parked near here and walked to the museum on the day of the festival.
Maxwell Game Refuge

At Maxwell Game Refuge on Saturday mornings at 10:00 am there is a kind of an open tram that will take you out to where the herd of bison are feeding. The tram is pulled by a truck. The truck is one that goes out in Winter and puts out feed for the bison. They are wild animals but they do recognize that truck and will come for a hand out. Seemed like the entire herd got up and loped over to where we were waiting. They were all around us so close you could touch them. This travelogue is a collection of photos of the bison which I grew up calling buffalo.
